| Traditional Chinese medicine is the treasure of Chinese nation.The industry of Chinese materia medica is an important part of the frame which constitutes the strategy of sustainable development of medicine industry in China.Under the new historical conditions,Chinese materia medica industry meets with unprecedented opportunities and challenges in a new situation of world economy,especially after China's entry into WTO.Along with the rapid development of Chinese economy and science and technology,the international integration of Chinese materia medica industry in China will be progressing drastically.However,the position of Chinese producers in the international market is severely challenged by the fierce competition coming from Japan,Korea,USA, and European countries.It is an essentially important problem arisen in the road of development of Chinese materia medica industry that China should seize the opportunities of development and overcome the challenges and difficulties so as to realize the modernization and internationalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine industry,by promoting the level of comprehensive competitiveness of the industry.Industrial cluster of Chinese materia medica industry is still a new research field,which needs to be exploratively studied with practical characteristics of modern Chinese materia medica industrial development. Industrial Cluster,one of the mainstreams of current global industrial development,is a strong force to boost regional economy and industry. According to the study on the industrial development of Chinese materia medica both at home and abroad,industrial cluster is not only an inevitable way of Chinese materia medica industry' s expansion but also the direction of the industry' s future development in the 21st century.The theoretical foundation of this dissertation is built on a comprehensive use of theories of Modern Economics and Management, such as the theory of Industrial Cluster,the theory of Modern Industrial Organization,and Potter's theory of Industrial Competitiveness.The dissertation adopts Potter' s theory- "Diamond Model" as its logical analytic framework,with the life cycle of Chinese materia medica industrial cluster as its mainline,using normative analysis and positive analysis as its methods.This dissertation is a systematic,comprehensive, and in-depth research on the industrial cluster mode of modern Chinese materia medica.This dissertation is a systematic,comprehensive,and in-depth research on the industrial cluster mode of modern Chinese materia medica industry.It mainly discusses the basic theory,formation mechanism,organization forms,supporting system,developing mode, and the strategy of modern Chinese materia medica industrial cluster.It is of important theoretic value and pragmatic significance in strengthening the research on industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica industry,promoting the formation and development of the industrial cluster and upgrading the overall competitiveness of our modern Chinese materia medica industry.This dissertation explores its research from the following seven aspects.1.The choice of approaches of uplifting the competitiveness of modern Chinese materia medica industry.The dissertation firstly describes the situation of Chinese materia medica industry' s development,and analyzes the challenges and opportunities confronted by the industry under the new historical conditions.Then the dissertation points out that under the new situation,the clustering development of Chinese materia medica industry is highly important for the cultivation and promotion of Chinese materia medica industry in China.Besides,it makes a careful study on the main obstacles and difficulties facing by our Chinese medicine industrial cluster at the present stage.2.The basic theories of Traditional Chinese medicine industrial cluster.In this part the dissertation defines the related concepts of the industrial cluster,Traditional Chinese medicine industry,the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine and the industrial cluster of modern Chinese medicine.It analyses the feasibility and necessity of the industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica and the significance of its development;elaborates the theoretical basis of study on industrial clusters of modern Chinese materia medica through the theory of industrial clusters,the theory of modern industry organization, the theory of industrial cluster life cycle and the theory of Porter's "diamond model" about industrial competitiveness.Based on that,the dissertation puts forward the theory model of the industrial cluster's competitiveness of modern Chinese materia medica,establishing a logic analytical framework for the industrial cluster mode of modern Chinese materia medica.3.The forming mechanism and organizational form of the industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica.In this part,the dissertation makes a comprehensive study of the forming mechanism of the industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica,which includes the formation condition,forming patterns and process,and inner motivation of Chinese materia medica industrial cluster;it summarizes the main forming models of Chinese materia medica industry cluster according to the forming conditions and causes of industrial cluster,after the investigation and research on the production and evolution of Chinese materia medica industry clusters.Then,the dissertation ally analyzes several main organization forms and their features of modern Chinese materia medica industrial cluster in a Macroscopic perspective,according to the characters of the industrial organization forms.4.The establishment of the mechanism of industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica.In this part the organization structure and the basic operation platform of the industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica are designed and built up according to their specific characteristics;a set of effective,flexible,and complete operation mode is constructed for industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica with comprehensive consideration of the information flow,logistics,personnel exchanges and other factors.The competition and cooperation,the technical exchanges,and other inner mechanisms should be built up among the enterprises of modern Chinese medicine industry cluster,in order to improve inter-organizational coordination and competition,promote healthy and orderly development of industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica,and improve competitiveness of the whole cluster. 5.The support system of industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica.Based on the "new diamond model" of industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica,the dissertation conducts the research on the support systems of industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica,which include market service system,technical innovation system and governmental support system.6.The development mode and strategy of industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica.This part analyzes the basic development mode of the industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica,therefore chooses the most suitable one for each stage with the life cycle as the breakthrough point.It studies the theoretical basis and objects of formulating the development strategy of the industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica.The dissertation delivers an elaboration on how to constructs the development strategy of industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica from the following five aspects:resources integration strategy,marketing integration strategy, innovation integration strategy,industrial integration strategy and government function integration strategy through using "the new diamond model" as the framework,so as to build up the implementation and control mechanism of development strategy of industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica.7.Case studies.This dissertation conducts an empirical study on the formation and development of industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica in Hunan province,basing on the theoretical analytical framework proposed previously.It analyses the feasibility of such industry clusters in Hunan province,and further elaborates the early form of the industry.Lastly,the dissertation summarizes the successful experience,explores the problems and the weak links in its development, and puts forward guiding strategies and measures for promoting the development of industrial cluster modern Chinese materia medica in Hunan province.Some relevant conclusions proposed previously are verified by the empirical study.The research on the industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica are relatively new and pioneering.Therefore exploratory studies on the characters of modern Chinese materia medica industry are extremely necessary for its industrial cluster research.Based on the specific conditions of China,this dissertation constructs a preliminary set of theoretical framework systems of industrial cluster mode of modern Chinese materia medica,which is both normative and workable,and what's more important,will provides provides theoretical guidance for the formation and sustainable development of industrial cluster of modern Chinese materia medica.
