The study probes into the economic approaches to conservation of historic cultural towns&villages by comprehensively applying the theory of multiple disciplines such as city planning study, architectural theory, history, political science, economic principle, macro economic policies, taxation, land management, industrial policy, tourism, administration, philosophy, etc., by employing various methods such as historical documents sorting induction, fieldwork, system analysis, Modeling, mathematical analysis, antitheses, SWOT, case analysis, etc.. The dissertation, dividing into introduction, body and conclusion, discourses upon the increment conservation point from the three dimensions of economic policy, economic development and conservation planning.There lie increments and changes in historic cultural towns&villages. Furthermore, the continuous variable in long history is the most important feature of its own can additionally prove. For this reason, what historic cultural towns&villages need is increment conservation. The whole dissertation discourses from protection and ends in protection, in three dimensions around the discussion of economic approaches to protect historic cultural towns&villages.(Chapter I Introduction part)The first chapter begins with a clear discussion of research background, research purposes, research significance, basic concepts and exploratory scope, introducing the main content, theoretical approach, cut path and academic framework.(Chapter Ⅱ-Ⅷ Body part)This is a core part of this paper. Among them, the Chapter Ⅱ-Ⅲ focusing on increment conservation founds theory for the whole dissertation,the chapter IV-IX expounds respectively from the following three dimensions in order to start discussion.Both of them put pen to paper on cultural capital, economic capital, dropping a hint of foreshadowing the subsequent chapters "economic approaches" importing "conservation of historic cultural towns&villages"Economic policy dimension:The chapters IV-V sophisticatedly treat the relevant economic policies, along with the logic sequence of macroeconomics-microeconomics macro perspective in micro tier. First, positioning the economic tenets of Pareto Optimality, Kaldor-Hicks Compensation Principle, and Second Best Theory etc. on theoretical guidance status, relying on incubating and marketing local comparative advantages, the chapters refer to economic indicatio analyses to make for the preservation and appreciation of historic cultural towns&villages. Second, from legislation and policy point of view, the chapters discuss the value of Economic support, Economic recycling, and inquire into financial support to protect and develop historic cultural towns&villages; from the perspective of cultural industries, discusses the role of economic adjustment, economic boosting, and attempt to break through the bottlenecks of protection and development; no matter which angle, all economic policies are both independent of each other and leveraging each other’s important economic way. Third, the particular chapter discourses upon the "land-based conservation policy and institutional perspective", invests into "land", which is the root of historic cultural towns&villages, from the macro vision of micro tier; based on "land" inherent sequence, the chapter is followed by the research of six sections, i.e., the plight of towns&villages’ difficulties, land ownership reform, land tenure tax reform, land differentiated function zoning, the creative transformation of village (town) site, village (town) residents’participation and such.Adaptive reuse dimension:the chapters VI-VII primarily put forth the overview on historic cultural village (town) economic development and management, and then elucidate the history-culture-oriented tourism, which is currently as the staple formation of economic development. First, being four logic layers around four key words "condition","channel","foundation","measure", the chapters illuminate the economic exploitation and management must be qualified for some conditions, channels, foundations and measures as well as be scientific, orderly, effective, and thereby avoid industrial expansion out of control, to ensure conservation as the first thing, economic development sustainable. Second, adopting a "tot-sub" structure, the chapters at first induce the overview of functional significance of history-culture-oriented tourism, then present the detailed development model and the main development essentials, and end with the demonstrative case.Protective planning dimensions:Chapter Ⅷ begins with empirical realism and end in it too. First describes the existing conservation planning for historic cultural towns&villages under the evolution of laws and regulations; second analyzes the challenge that the enormous economic construction has brought to "real village (town)"; next advocates the incremental protective planning accept the challenge, with a demonstrated case attached in the end.(Conclusion part)There’re some innovative points on the economic approaches to conservation of historic cultural towns&villages. From a macro point of view, the creativity (innovation) of electing topic in itself is a fusion of theoretical innovation and practical value, which creatively put forward the concept of increment conservation. As to the system creation (innovation), based on the increment conservation, the chapter covers economic principles, policies, leverage to build the entire system, here needless to enumerate them.Finally, in respect to the innovation of argumentation and conclusion, the chapter argues cultural preservation and economic development are mutually reinforcing after deducing three progressive conclusions from the aspects of economic mathematics, economic relations and economic practices.Looking to the future, author is cherishing expectation to promulgate a national framework "Economic guidelines of Conservation of Historic Cultural Towns&Villages...
