The conception of productive forces is of vital importance to Marxist theory. It is the major and basic issue in the genealogy of Marxist theory. This paper clarified the basic connotation of the concept of productive forces and its meaning to Marxist Thought itself by bibliography, and then through analysis the stages and opportunities of development of Marx thought, to form a systematic comprehension of Marxist philosophy.This paper argues that the conception of productive forces is origin from the Classical Political Economy, Marx’s comprehension and usage of the conception of productive forces is a key to breakthrough the model of history interpretation of the German Classical Philosophy. Economic factors are an important component of historical materialism. This paper researched the process of construction of historical materialism though young Marx’s conception of productive forces by the latest achievements of MEGA2 . Productive forces are combined of technology and productivity tools as power, mode of co-operation itself, and force as self-activity of individuals. The conception of productive forces has special significance meaning for the construction of historical materialism, it is not only a replacement of the core concepts and guidance, which implements the various concepts or terms of special significance between the links and re-integration, as well as the fusion of economics and philosophy. Historical materialism is built on the concept of productive forces on the basis of the theory localization. During the 1848 European Revolution, Marx’s own explanation in public gradually highlighted the theme of class struggle and revolution, gradually dilute the philosophy meaning of productive forces. Late in the context of Marxist Economics, the conception of productive forces used by Marx for the characterization of the evolution‘rate’or‘quantity’as economic concepts, the philosophy meaning lost in economics, therefore, the paper advocates back to the concept the productive forces of young Marx.
