On College Research Teams Building In The Innovation Context

As science and technology advances, scientific research has developed from going it alone to teamwork. In the era of advanced science and technology, research team has become the main body of scientific and technological innovation. While innovation has become the mainstream of world development in the context, and China has accelerated the process of building an innovative country, Chinese colleges and universities play an increasingly important role in the process of building an innovative country. College research team has become the main body of a college innovation. In the innovation context, strengthening on studying research team in college is of great theoretical and practical significance. Focusing on the study topic on the basis of the related research results, along the idea "Basic Researchâ†'Empirical Researchâ†'Comparative Studyâ†'Problem Analysisâ†'Countermeasure Research", this study is divided into six sections about Introduction, Theoretical Research, Empirical Research, Comparative Study, Problem Analysis, Countermeasure Research.In Introduction Section, the theoretical and practical significance of this study is explored after analyzing international and domestic context. Through literature review, it is found that hardly any paper about the theoretical literature on studying the relationship between research team and innovation ability in college, nor about the empirical literature on studying their relationship. Therefore, studying the relationship between research team and innovation ability in college as the core, this study selected as the basic perspective of Higher Education Management, combining the basic perspective and multi-angle, multi-disciplinary, and selected as a variety of study methods, in particular, the correlation analysis in statistical methods.In Theoretical Research Section, it focuses mainly on the two core concept, research team in college and innovative ability in college. The basis theory is structured after analyzing the seven pairs involved concepts on the basis of defining the two core concepts. This study thinks that research team in college is a formal research group in a certain amount of research personnel composed mainly of the college research staff who have the complementary knowledge and ability, shared responsibility and mutual coordination in order to achieve innovation objectives. Innovative ability in college is the comprehensive capabilities of a college or university as a whole, including capabilities of asking questions, analyzing and solving problems, which are exhibited by the realization of innovation in full use of existing resources according to social development needs. This is the first major conclusions reached in this study. In Empirical Research Section, according to basic theory analysis of the relationship, it is found that there is relationship of interaction and mutual promotion between the research team and the innovation ability in college, and between the humanities innovation and the sci-tech innovation in college. According to empirical analysis of the relationship, it is found that the number of the sci-tech research team and the scores of the sci-tech innovation ability are highly positive relationship; that the number of the humanities research subjects, the participants, the transferred funds and the spending funds and the scores of the humanities innovation ability are significantly or highly positive relationship; that the scores of the humanities innovation ability and the scores of the sci-tech innovation ability are highly or significantly positive relationship. The successful experience of each team is summed up from domestic case research on the basis of interviewing some persons in the two innovative teams. This is the second major conclusions reached in the dissertation.In Comparative Study Section, it is analyzed that building way, internal structure, management mode, security system of foreign research teams in college. The five experience are summed up that governments make policies supporting the team to innovate; colleges build a platform for the team innovation; employing a academic elite leads the team to innovate; optimizing academic environment promotes the team to innovate; perfecting evaluation mechanism urges the team to innovate. According to the literature of Human Genome Project team and Stanford Bio-X Program team, the two cases are analyzed and inspiration is obtained from them. This is the third major conclusions reached in this dissertation.In Problem Analysis Section, because of the overall innovation ability in our colleges being lower, the problems and their reasons of research teams in our colleges are analyzed mainly from the perspective of their history and reality. The problems include mainly that overall scale of our college research teams is smaller, their internal activity lacking, their academic output insufficient, their leading lights weak. The main reason for the problems is the ideas lagging behind practical needs, institutional fetters, input of funds being lower, evaluation bias in building our college research teams.This is the fourth major conclusions reached in the dissertation.In Countermeasure Research Section, the four basic countermeasures are proposed in accordance with the main reasons of the problems of research teams in our colleges. The first countermeasure is to innovate the ideas in building our college research teams. The second is to reform their systems. The third is to increase their input of funds. The fouth is to perfect their assessment. This is the fifth major conclusions reached in the dissertation.
