National multicultural music based on the multicultural perspective, the dissertationaims to cope with the challenge encountered with the trend of diversification of internationalmulticultural music education in the course of inheritance and development of Chinesenational music education, and the concept of multicultural music education plays a moreand more important influence in the Chinese national music teaching, exemplified by thereport of Chinese national music teaching from six primary and junior middle schools ofChangchun, after a careful survey of the influence exerted by the concept of multiculturalmusic education, intends to bring forward some open conclusion and proposal for theconstruction and perfection of Chinese national music teaching system. With the presentation of the concept of multiculture, cultural pluralism is kept underresearch and use in variety of fields, for instance, education, historical research, culturalcriticism and social reform, and affected a lot more country other than the original westerncountries to most easten countries such as Japan, India and China. When faced with theglobal multiculture trend, multicultural music education, the very education model appearedfrom the end of20th century, formed an irreversible trend in music education ofinternational today. The multicultural background is the starting point of the dissertation, with thewidespread of global multi-culture trend, the inheritance and development of Chinesenational music is faced with severe challenge. We choose the sample of teaching practices inChangchun’s characteristic primary and middle School and take a thoroughly investigationinto it, hope to find out a solution to the problems appeared in the music teaching practice, also, we are looking forward to providing some open conclusion to the construction andperfection of our national music teaching system. The dissertation consists of three parts, i.e. the introduction, five chapters and theconclustion.Among which, the introduction part gives a brief account of the research motivation andthe scholarship of home and abroad, how could we approach this and why this projectshould be carried on, so as to be familiar with the goal of the project and the main problemsto deal with.Chapter One tells and illustrates the concerning concepts, for instance, multicultural, multicultural education, national music, national music teaching, together with easilymisleading concepts as multicultural music education, folk music, traditional music andnational music education.Chapter two explores the values of the projects, namely, the emotional experience, cultural legacy, and the social communication, and the theoretical foundation of Chinesenational music teaching, the appoaches of music in its historical, valuable and culturalrepresentation, in order to serve as the guideline for Chapter three and Chapter four. Both Chapter three and Chapter four are the most important parts of our investigation. The former pays special attention to practical aspect, and makes an inquiry of how the goalof Chinese national music teaching from six primary and junior middle schools ofChangchun could be achieved. All the information of this inquiry is gathered throughquestionnaires and interviews, and then, we give a slightly analysis of the result on accountof the students, teachers, textbooks and environments. The latter gives an overall theoreticalintrospection of the investigation, mainly on the teaching principles, the contents oftextbooks, teaching methods, teaching envaluationsand the teachers’ skills.Chapter five is the last chapter of the whole dissertation, yet, it is far from lessimportant. On the contrary, it is the most difficult part of the very project. Here, we still baseour research on the multicultural perspective, and divide the project into smaller parts, suchas establishment of music teaching theory, construct of teaching objects, arrangements ofthe contents of textbooks, the select of teaching method, the exert of teaching valuation andso forth, distribute these goals into various of stages, and make preparations for theirpresupposition and implementation.Last but not least, the conclusion part proclaims the two basic approach of how toexplore national music teaching against the multiculture background, namely, themulticulture character of national music and the differentiation cultures between onecountry and the other. And then, we take into account the contemporary problems in musicteaching in primary and junior middle schools and foresee the future of Chinese nationalmusic-teaching.As we all know, schools are of the most important part in Chinese nationalmusic-teaching. Also, we have already kept in mind that we should pay special attentioneducation even from childhood. Thus, we should cherish the opportunities in music teachingpractice, especially the Chinese national music-teaching in that, it’s theessential measure to strengthen the foundation of inheritance and development of Chinesenational music. We are deeply convinced that, only when we make the concept ofmulticultural music education as the guideline of Chinese national music teaching practice,we could deal smoothly with the opportunities and challenges in global multicultural musiceducation trend, and enable more ane more students to get a better understanding of worldmusic culture in the increasingly cross-culture communication nowadays, to enhance theirself-confidence with our nation. We hold it firm that, most of them would try their best tocontribute to the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese culture in the nearfuture.
