A Study On Undergraduate Employment From The Perspective Of Contemporary China Economic Structure

China higher education has made great achievements in the past more than thirty years since the beginning of reform and opening-up. Since college education transformed from elite education into mass education, the undergraduates’employment problem has become increasingly serious, which not only makes influence on personal growth and family well-being, but also becomes a potentially important factor that will affect social stability. Therefore, solving this problem has become an important task to the government. This paper studies the college graduates’employment issue from the perspective of modern China’s economic structure. The paper consists of six chapters.Chapter one is the introduction, which discusses the background and significance of this paper, and introduces the present researches on the factors that affect undergraduate employment at home and abroad. This paper focuses on the following factors:economic structure of China, mechanism of enterprises’recruitment behaviors and mechanism of the undergraduates’employment behaviors.Chapter two studies the related employment theories at home and abroad. It quotes the opinions of Marx, Engels, Lenin, Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao in regards to employment. These theories provide the research with some guidance.Chapter three mainly discusses the undergraduate employment problem form the perspective of China’s economic structure. Nowadays, college students only makes up a small proportion of working age people in China, which is still far behind the developed countries. Although China’s economy has developed a lot since thirty years of reform and opening-up, economic structure is still irrational which also makes an influence on the employment correspondingly. This paper analyses the factors that affect students’ job choice mainly from state ownership, industry structure and the uncoordinated regional economy.Chapter four studies the mechanism of enterprise recruitment. According to the current situation of Chinese enterprise, the paper makes an analysis on the mechanism of enterprise recruitment through conducting marketing research and data statistics. The paper then discusses the factors that affect enterprise talent selection and the problems existing in this mechanism. Lastly, it studies the factors of enterprise that lead to graduate unemployment problem from the perspective of meso-level.Chapter five investigates the mechanism of undergraduate employment from the microscopic perspective. It analyzes the graduate unemployment from the perspective of students themselves based on the TPB theory.Chapter six reviews the problem of undergraduates’employment difficulties and puts forward the solutions from four aspects:strengthening the ability of government macro-control, enterprise talent selection and student employment guidance in universities and improving graduates’own employability.
