In the transformation process from normal education to teacher education, the transformation of Chinese teacher education is very necessary for the development of both the Chinese education and the Chinese teachers. It is imperative to reshape the whole system for Chinese teacher education.The transformation of Chinese teacher education refers to the transformation of curriculum structure of Chinese teacher education, curriculum implementation, educational concept, related educational system and so on. Research on the modern transformation of Chinese teacher education is not only a response to improve education and Chinese teacher education required by the new era, but also an initiative to form a new road for the professional development of Chinese teachers.Research on the contemporary transformation of Chinese teacher education starts from finding solutions for the problems of the Chinese teacher education. As the closed system of teacher education was broken, Chinese teacher education has been in the trend of being comprehensive and integrated. Under this general development trend, however, the deviation of Chinese teacher profession orientation appeared as the core issue, which reveals not only the separation between the Chinese teacher education theory and practice, but also the weakness of Chinese teacher profession. Rethinking Chinese teacher education from the view of strengthening the Chinese teacher profession includes both designing the contemporary Chinese teachers’images and constructing the key ability of contemporary Chinese teacher. Any Chinese teacher that is capable of adapting to the society and education development should be a caring and poetic person, a reflective practitioner and a humorous character as well. The key abilities for matching this ideal image of the Chinese teacher include the abilities on comprehending the text, making judgment over the learning situation and making reflections on practice. In the guidance of fostering key abilities, the Pre-service Chinese teacher education will need transformation from the standard teaching to contextualized teaching, from theory of practical to practice theoretical.The training mode of Pre-service teacher education with characteristics of contextualized teaching and practice theoretical is the clinical cooperation guidance. At the same time, the Post-service training of Chinese teachers needs a combination of national training, local training, routinization of the School-based research, internet-assisted teaching research and so on, and then the Post-service Chinese teacher training modes which stress the key abilities could be developed, such as planning lessons together, collaborative discussion, etc.Based on the contemporary transformation of the Chinese teacher education, by analyzing the present situation of Chinese teacher education, the research revealed the main problems of the Chinese teacher education, reshaped the ideal image of the Chinese teacher, concluded the key abilities for being a Chinese teacher, and finally put forward the path of Chinese teacher education to foster future educators.
