Waldorf education, which arose in the early20th century in Europe, is an important force in the new education movement. After nearly a century of development, it has now spread all over the world and become the world’s largest independent system of education in addition to religious education. Its educational achievements not only get the approbation of the western developed countries, also received the affirmation of the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization. Waldorf education as a kind of unique education system has a unique theoretical innovation in cultivating children’s creativity and rich practical experience, can provide some useful reference for our country’s foundation education.Waldorf education uses its start-up Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophy and the mental psychology as its theoretical basis. Steiner thought people are a whole which consists of body, soul and spirit, human nature of development is the human spirit development. After in-depth study of children’s mind, emotion and thinking characteristics, he pointed out the three cycles of children’s development theory. Waldorf education is put forward to cultivate spiritual freedom and full development of children’s personality. The education requests the teacher to recognize that there are individual differences of individual children, teachers should be based on the perspective to understand children’s personality, temperament according to the different temperament of children and develop their personality, let children become a person with independent personality. Promote the free development of children’s unique personalities become Waldorf education basic goal. Fully respect and development of personality offer the guarantee on the personality characteristics in the cultivation of creativity for children.Waldorf education,which based on the whole views on children, was associated to construct a whole course to promote the whole brain development of children, and safeguard the overall development of all kinds of thinking. Waldorf curriculum in the elementary education stage using periodic course, integrate the different content of courses by themes. Waldorf school curriculum especially attaches great importance to the values of art courses, art courses, humanities courses, and science courses are developed equally. Schools not only attaches great importance to the mastery of all kinds of knowledge, at the same time the attention raises student’s beginning ability and promote students’emotional development, promote the whole development of students’ hands, brain, heart. In the process of teaching attaches importance to developing students’ intuitive thinking, inspiration and imagination, with the development of logical thinking on the equally important position, so as to develop the child’s whole brain, inspired the creative potential of children.Waldorf education pursues for teaching art.
