In the early20th century, Waldorf education appeared in Europe and Rudolf Steiner built the first Waldorf School in Germany in1919. After nearly a century of development history, today’s Waldorf education has played an important role in the worldwide education. Over the last decade, the Waldorf education rose in our country and Waldorf Schools and Waldorf kindergartens have appeared. This thesis is aiming at investigating the educational philosophy of Waldorf phenomenon. Based on previous researches, the thesis discussed Waldorf children’s social development and education theory, so as to provide supportive materials and viewing angle for people to know Waldorf early childhood education.This research mainly adopts the documentary analysis and speculative methods, supplemented by methods of observation and interview. Waldorf early childhood education theories are selected as object of this study from the viewpoint of children’s social development and education. The researcher has obtained the main theories about children’s social development and education of Waldorf education by studying Waldorf education literature researches and observing Waldorf early childhood education practice. This paper is divided into four parts as follows:The first chapter introduces the origins, significance, literature review, contents and methods of this study and definition of the concepts.The second chapter discusses the basic theories of Waldorf children’s social development and education from two aspects as sociology and philosophy.The third chapter focuses on the main content of Waldorf children’s social development theory which includes four parts such as the essence and developmental stage of human, twelve senses and temperament types.The forth part focuses on the main content of Waldorf children’s social education theory which includes four parts such as the environmental system, goals, principles and organization of Waldorf children’s social education and the schedule and activities in Waldorf kindergarten.Chapter five summaries the revelation of Waldorf children’s social development and education theory for our children’s social education and introspect this study finally.
