The left-behind children is a special weak group which emerged during the transition of our economic development and the key issue, even not limited to, is education, objectively it reflects various contradictions and conflicts so it is a comprehensive social issue. Said by famous sociologist Fei Xiaotong:"bringing up children cannot be only shouldered by a woman or a man, given birth not only by a mother but must also by a father", with the absence of general sense of "father" or "mother", definitely there is a serious deviation from various fields like education, emotion, mentality, character, behavior. It is a strong need to promote balanced education development and realize social just for the proper solving of this issue by avoiding left-behind children education becoming the left behind during the process of our educational modernization.Centering on left-behind children education topic, this paper follows this approach: "asking question-analyzing question-confirming issue-solving issue". Based on literature review, after analyzing historical background and social origin, we elaborated relative theories like ethnics, pedagogy. Staring from the investigation on existing status, together with questionnaire survey, on-site investigation, depth interview, plus quantitative and qualitative analysis, this paper provides a panoramic view over the hierarchy, living condition, learning characteristics, mental health, educational support of those children. Major challenges and restrictive factors faced by educational support are also deeply elaborated. Finally, from Macro-Meso-Micro perspectives, this paper constructed an educational support system, formulated its functioning mechanism and implementation strategy by basic approaches:getting at the root rather than merely alleviating the symptom, coordination rather than lose of control, from inside rather than from outside.First of all, asking question by analyzing phenomenon which is very special in China, elaborating the importance, necessity, theoretical value and practical benefit of our study. Secondly, giving definition to core ideas like left-behind children, social support, educational support. Finally, formulating our purpose, content, approach and method in order to provide a robust foundation for following investigations. Overview conducted on relevant current studies at home and abroad leaves us enlightenment. From the origin and history, plus those of various different historical periods and background, reveals the social origin of this issue. We constructed our analytic framework and provided solid theoretical foundations from multi-discipline perspectives based on elaboration on various theories:ethics, pedagogy, sociology, psychology.We start our questionnaire survey and interview investigation based on self-devised "questionnaire survey on education status of left-behind children" and interview outline, taking instance from middle east X area of Jiangsu Province, we conducted empirical investigation on basic composition, parent-child relationship, home education, learning quality, mental health and educational support. By comparing items between left-behind children and non-left-behind children like custody, learning and mental health, also by correlating the result from teacher’s and children’s questionnaire, plus conducting case study on the spot, we have formulated characteristics of current status and uncovered the main issues and jumped to general judgment.The generation of this issue origins from comprehensive factors, and the modeling of educational support system should be from multi perspectives. This paper conducted a systemic analysis from areas like family, society, school and individual, made an effort to unwind the root cause behind symptoms. This paper try to propose a multi-center model of "government-school-family-community-society-’left-behind’ children", a functioning model, implementing strategy and relative policy suggestion have been proposed, options of road map to the solution of this issue and the creation of long term functioning mechanism have also been provided.Left-behind children education is a complicated social issue, it is necessary to change the vulnerable situation of those children in social hierarchy and education system, it is also necessary to get at the root rather than alleviate the symptom. The construction of educational support system is a complicated process, only after collaboration and joint effort among government, school, family, community, society and individual, can change from previous remedy to prevention, passive to active, short-term to long-term solutions so really promote the healthy growth of left-behind children.
