With the social problems such as city staff unemployment, impoverishment rate highlighted, environmental pollution and ecological damage exacerbated, the contain for coal city sustainable development is further expansed, In this paper the author study31coal cities from aspect of economy socity and enviroment.According to the development law of coal city, This dissertation take the method of combination empirical analysis and normative analysis,the quantitative analysis and qualitative description, Integrated multi-disciplinary theory of regional economics, industrial economics, institutional economics, welfare economics, analyzed and summarized the development laws of economic, social, environmental in coal city from the perspective of systems theory, analysis of coordination between economic, social, environmental subsystems and the whole systems sustainable development. Approximate structural framework of the dissertation are as follows:In the first chapter, introduce the aticle of coal city and review past literatures, In the second chapter, describe the concept、characteristics、industrial structure of the coal city, and evaluate the industry efficiency of every cities, Thus based on the life cycle theory provided the transition programs, then in the Chapter Ⅲ, study the social aspect of the coal city, found the reasons for coal cities’ financial difficulties, and the gap between rich and poor in coal city from the perspective of income distribution, finaly evaluation social vulnerability by the entropy method. Then in Chapter IV This dissertation review analysis the city environmental conditions from the two aspects of destruction and restoration, in order to achieve succesful transition result and promote the sustainable development of the coal city, lastly in Chapter IV summarizing previously, use factor analysis to evalute the economic, social, environmental dimensions. And measure the degree of coordination between the three aspacts.Through a series of studies，this dissertation found In various dimensions of economic, social, environmental, the coal city is behind the national level overall.
