The dissertation intents to construct a new theoretical framework of Double-Environment(DE)to analyze the bilateral relations with territorial disputes(BR with TD)under the basic of international relations theories, diplomacy theories and the theory of political ecology. The analytical framework of DE could be understood from two different levels: the first and macro level is BR with TD-approach,in which the interaction of nature and degree of territorial disputes in BR creates the internal environmental conditions for BR with TD,while the integrations of power conditions of actors and relational conditions between actors and the external nations shape the external environment for BR with TD.The second and micro level is actor-approach,in which the hard power and soft power form the sub-internal environment and the decisive relations between actors and other nations effect the sub-external environment. The level of disputes determined by the internal environment could influence the closeness of BR with TD,and the structure of circumstance made by the external environment will constraint the stability of BR with TD,both of which cast the diversities of the BR with the similar TD.The essential puzzle of the dissertation is to answer why the bilateral relations with the similar territorial disputes have different models and characteristics and then to explore the factors which shape such diversities. The objective of the research is the bilateral relations with marine territorial dispute and the samples in this dissertation are the China-Philippines relations with South China sea Disputes(SCD),the China-Vietnam relations with SCD and the China-Malaysia relations with SCD,which will be studied and understood by using the analytical framework of DE throughout the whole text. The instruction of this dissertation presents the background of such research, comprehensive literature review, theoretical perspectives, research approach and methodology of the paper.Chapter One is the theoretical explanation and analysis of the research which explore the framework of DE and then explain the environmental conditions which effect the development of bilateral relations with marine territorial disputes. In Chapter Two the paper introduces the history of China-Philippines relations,China-Vietnam relations and China-Malaysia relations and the origins and their characteristics of SCD in such three bilateral relations.Chapter Three is the descriptive analysis of the above three bilateral relations with SCD after the end of cold war from the approach of diversities of policies and the status and feature of three relations.Chapter Four and Chapter Five analyze the factors which shape the diversities of bilateral relations with territorial disputes, chapter four is the general analysis of diversities of BR with SCD and the chapter five is the interpretative analysis for such relations, which is the using and testing process of the above theory in the paper. In the end of dissertation,Chapter Six shows the nation-orientation factors and system-orientation factors which could shape the tendencies of the three relations with SCD in the future and then predict the development routes and their characteristics of three bilateral relations in the coming years approximately. The last of the dissertation concludes the whole discussions of bilateral relations with territorial disputes and answers the core problem of this research, and the tentative and advisable suggestions are delivered under the above comprehensions.
