Physical education is an educational existence in according with people's demand for self-development,which involves deep ethical implications in its practicing.Ethics as one of the dimensions that lead,formulate and balance the development of things,can amend people's behavior towards justice,lead things to develop with its rules,and coordinate people's relationships with each other with a rational leverage and scale.The practice of contemporary physical education and school sports in China shows that the problems of P.E.and school sports cannot be solved merely through legislation or policy formulation,especially when it comes to the personal orientation and ethical behaviors.The importance of ethics for P.E.and school sports is that it helps people establish appropriate values,formulate relative subject behaviors,and lead the P.E.and school sports to develop with the rules.Although many scholars have investigated the problems of domestic P.E.and school sports from ethical perspectives,we still find weakness by carefully scanning existing researches.On one hand,many researches seldom include author's ethical standpoint and the ethical principles that P.E.and school sports should follow,nor do they have a convincing theoretical basis since many researchers borrow theories from ethics or education without reasoning.On the other hand,due to the lack of argument on what ethical value orientation should be like,the research on P.E.and school sports problems can provide neither normative value judgment basis nor rational value judgment to a specific problem.When we examine and reflect on the P.E.and school sports from an ethical perspective,we should think deeply and systematically at an ethical level rather than superficially.Only through examination and reflection with clarifying the ethic basis of P.E.and school sports,we can get to the core of the ethical problems and rethink critically about the practical problems in P.E.and school sports.Therefore,this research will develop a study from the following aspects:Firstly,examine and reflect on the basis of ethics in P.E.and school sports through clarifying relative definitions,explaining the possibility and necessity of ethics interfering physical education,establishing the ethical standpoint,demonstrating the ethical principles that should be obeyed,constructing the ethical framework,and investigate the relationship between the elements of ethics in P.E.and school sports.Secondly,in order to offer a beneficial for the fut'ure development of physical education,this research will study the existing ethical problems of P.E.and school sports,explore the root of its appearance,and to provide a direction in which the problems should be solved.Besides the introduction part,this research is divided into seven chapters.Chapter 1 to 4 is the examination and reflection of the basic ethical theoretical problems,Chapter 5 and 6 include the examination and reflection of the ethical problems in practice,Chapter 7 is the conclusion and constructive suggestion.Chapter 1:The clarification of relative ethical defnitions of physical education and school sports.This chapter by logical reasoning defines the related ethical coneepts in physical education such as ethics,morality,education ethics and physical education ethics.Ethics in physical education and school sports mainly indicates how people of P.E.and school sports should regulate their behaviors.It is reflected by people's obedience to the regulations of physical and mental education,as well as the virtues that people obtain while in pursuit of morality,justice,rationality,integrity and happiness.The connotation of ethics in physical education is also explained:(1)moral responsibilities are the cornerstone and security for the ethics in P.E.and school sports;(2)the creation of happiness is the ends of physical education ethics;(3)harmony and balance is the ideal for ethics in physical education.Chapter 2:The basis of ethics in P.E.and school sports.The discussion in this chapter is mainly to reveal "how it is possible" and "how it is necessary" that ethics would interfere in physical education and school sports.It is possible to reach to a furnher exploration at an academic level only when we are able to answer the above two questions.When we ask "how it is possible",we are asking whether there is a ethical nature in physical education;when we ask "how it is necessary",we are asking what ethics can do to P.E.and school sports.This research would confirm that there is an ethical nature in physical education from the logic of humanity,demonstrate the reflection of ethical nature in the ideology of P.E.,and develop a discussion on the value and function of ethics to physical education and school sports.Chapter 3:Foundation of basic theory on P.E.and school sports ethics.This research proposes that the basis for choosing the ethical standpoint should be the Marxist ethics;confirm that the standpoint should be the harmony of morality and utility;demonstrate that the ethical pursuit of physical education should be a harmonious development of body and mind;and argue that the practicing principles of P.E.and school sports should be morality,humanity,justice,rationality,integrity and happiness.Chapter 4:The conceptual framework of the ethics in P.E.and school sports.This research constructs the systematic framework of the ethics in physical education and school sports following the principles of integrality,hierarchy,dynamics,comprehensiveness and practicality.It argues that the framework should include dimensions of time,space and hierarchy.From the dimension of time,the formation,evolution and reconstitution reflect the development of ethics in physical education along with the timeline.From the dimension of space,the inner ethical relations and the external environment reflect the connections between the structural elements of ethics in P.E.and school sports.As in the dimension of hierarchy,rudimentary ethics,balanced ethics,and virtual ethics reflects the framework hierarchy of ethics in physical education and school sports.Chapter 5:The ethical problems of P.E.and school sports in China.This chapter analyzes the problems in practice and its ethical meaning.The problems are categorized into the following aspects.Firstly,the basic problem:the practice is deviated from the ethical pursuit,and the development of students' body and mind is departed from each other.Second,humanity problem:humanity standard is exiled and rights are eroded.Third,the problem of justice:the development is lacking justice and the distribution of resources is unbalanced.Fourth,rationality problem:instrumental rationality rises beyond the value rationality.Fifth,the problem of integrity:there is a lacking of integrity,morality and credit system.Sixth,the problem of happiness:the value of life is lost and happiness can hardly be achieved.Seventh,gender problem:women are in a vulnerable position while they should be treated equally to the opposite gender.Eighth,moral responsibility problem:the morality of education is out of norm and the promise of responsibility is vanishing.The root of these problems should be investigated and then be properly solved.In order to further study on the origin of the problems,we need to correlate with the relative phenomena in education itself as well as in economics,culture and the society.In general,this research declares that the root of the ethical problems in physical education and school sports is mainly reflected in the following aspects:Firstly,economic cause:the economical utilitarianism leads to an unbalanced distribution of educational resources.Second,the root of society:the lack of true understanding of physical education results in a biased attitude towards P.E.and school sports.-Fhird,lack of culture:the value orientation of culture is lost and the value orientation is misled.Fourth,the lost of education:education itself is generally over materialized and educational subject is lost.Fifth,flaws of practice:there is a gap between the policy implementation and supervision,and the practice at school becomes a mere formality.Sixth,subjective difficulty:the teachers are in an embarrassing situation and the students' understandings are restricted.Chapter 6:A proposed direction to solve the ethical problems in physical education and school sports.This chapter proposes a possible direction for solving ethical problems following a problem-solving reasoning and an ethical logic:we should devote to the pursuit of ethics,and unite the development of body and mind;we need to turn back to the human nature of education and avoid the over projection of education love;we should immerge the education of quality and justice,and balance the distribution of resources;to lead instrument rationality with value rationality and to guide decision rationality with reasonable rationality;to initiate the awakening of integrity,and form the range of moral freedom and behaviors;respect the value of life and chase for happiness;to build advanced gender culture of P.E.and school sports,strongly promote the gender equality education;to implement the main body responsibility and system arrangement,periodically dispell deviation and imbalance.Chapter 7:Conclusion and suggestion.Based on the conclusion of all above,this research gives constructive advices as follows:(1)strengthen the research on paradigm and promote the using of diverse paradigm;depen the study on ethical issues and enrich the academic research on ethics in physical education and school sports;put more effort on policy making of ethical theory and promote to make rational policies on physical education and school sports;contribute to the analysis on gender ethics and louder the voice of women participating in decision making;develop empirical study and strengthen the practicality of relative theories.To(2)transfer educational object to self-perfection through forming ethical values and behaviors;establish the system of core character and competitive ability of physical education;unite policy with ethics to better develop school sports;put five principles of development into practice in order to constantly open up new horizons for development of P.E.and school sports;take the idea of"healthy China" as the driver for the development of ethics in physical education to better its function in promoting physical and mental health.
