Study On The Cultivation Quality Of Engineering Masters In Local Universities

To reinforce the cultivation quality of postgraduate education and high-end talents is the essential way for our country to lift innovation efficiency and increase core competitiveness.The National Program for Medium-to Long-Term Educational Reform and Development Plan(2010-2020)has definitely proposed to “improve talents cultivation quality and firmly establish the central position of talent cultivation in higher learning institutions”.As an eternal theme of higher education,talent cultivation is the strong security for the sustainable development of postgraduate education as well as the lifeline for postgraduate cultivation.At present,we must face some problems involved with the postgraduate educational mode and system at this stage urgently needing to be adjusted,and further face the postgraduate quality problem under the educational background,comparing with the urgent demand of the country and the international high-quality postgraduate education,particularly comparing with the significant innovative mission which should be presently undertaken by the research-based talents of our country.Under the strategic background of “Building a new path of industrialization,an innovation-oriented nation,and a country rich in human resources” proposed by the Party Central Committee,and in accordance with the comprehensive assessments from all walks of life for the postgraduate quality of Master of Engineering presently,it's not difficult for us to see the indexes such as scientific research and practice innovation capacity still fail to meet the urgent requirements of the country at present.To realize the objective of the seamless connection between the cultivation quality of high-level talented persons and the domestic and international needs,it needs to focus on the aspects of educational cultivation system and postgraduate cultivation quality,etc.Therefore,the paper takes the cultivation quality of Master of Engineering as the research entry point.The paper takes the ten local universities of J province as research objects and finally highlights the “cultivation quality of Master of Engineering(academic)of local universities”,in consideration of the unique industrial advantages and rich engineering cultivation resources.The paper,with Master of Engineering as the subject,probes its current situation of cultivation quality,problems and causes,as well as analyses the causes of quality problems based on the influence factors for the cultivation quality of postgraduate.That is,the keynote of the paper is to discuss “how is the present cultivation quality of the Master of Engineering in the local universities of our country? What are the main problems? What are the reasons leading to these problems? How to improve these core problems?”The paper,based on the above key problems and under the premise of taking the “cultivation quality of Master of Engineering of local universities” as research entry point,abides by the logic clue of “discover problem according to current situation,analyze cause according to problem,and find countermeasures by analyzing cause”,comprehensively surveys the core problems regarding cultivation quality,and tries to get feasible countermeasures in cultivating high-level engineering talents conforming to local economic demands and highlighting university characters.Firstly,it analyzes realistic function and meaning and discovers the realistic function and significance of the topic “cultivation quality of Master of Engineering of local universities through the introductory theory and Chapter One.The introductory theory mainly expounds the origins and meanings of the research and carries out a comprehensive review for the present researches at home and abroad,giving a detailed analysis for the adopted research methods.Moreover,it introduces relevant theory basis,defines research perspective as well as related core concepts,constructs top-level design according to research object,sets up a research frame according to core problems,and analyses research innovation point and shortcomings.Secondly,it conducts a comparative analysis for the highlights concerning the cultivation of the master of engineering in domestic and foreign universities and furthermore summarizes and concludes the relevant factors concerning each segment to quality of Masters of Engineering is 3.62,which locates between “ordinary” and “superior”.Namely,the total quality is higher than ordinary level,the number of high-quality postgraduates is relatively low,and there is a low proportion of poor quality Masters of Engineering.Therefore,universities shall devote themselves to cultivating engineering talents of higher quality,improving and promoting the comprehensive ability of those poor-quality masters of engineering.Thirdly,based on the empirical quality investigation results(the total average value is 3.62,which locates between “ordinary” and “superior”,namely,the total quality is higher than the average level),the paper finds the main inducing cause leading to quality problems in the cultivation process,in accordance with the current situation and problems in cultivating masters of engineering gained by combining self-evaluation,evaluation from the outside world and comprehensive evaluation.The paper conducts a deep analysis in Chapters Four and Five.It's not difficult to find there are four types of core quality problems in local universities concerning their cultivation for masters of engineering.That is,weak professional theory basis and bad professional literacy;poor in grasping advanced information and low scientific research innovation ability;poor initiative for study and few scientific research results;ordinary ability for application practice fails to meet the demands of enterprises.Moreover,the research finds the reason for these problems are mainly due to such internal factors as top-level design,teachers and supervisory mechanism,as well as such external factors as external supply,supply and demand deviation and transformation of production-study-research results.Finally,according to empirical results,quality appeal and the advanced experiences from China,the United States and the U.K,the paper puts forward the feasible strategies and countermeasures in efficiently promoting the cultivation quality for the masters of engineering in the local universities of our country.It takes local university and engineering disciplines as control variables and heterogeneity index and specifically points out how to utilize the four major routes,the leading role of tutor,actual effect of discipline construction courses,self-learning initiative and multi-stakeholder functions involved in production study research,in order to promote local university in improving their core problems regarding masters of engineering cultivation quality,and comprehensively promoting the cultivation quality of masters of engineering of our country and satisfying the demands of social and local economies and strengthening the core competitiveness of our country.
