In the era of information economy,informatizaton represented by information technology(IT)has penetrated into all walks of life,particularly logistics industry,in which IT has been employed widely.Innovation and application of IT,together with other factors,has contributed to an increasingly deepened and integrated development of logistics industry.From the informatization perspective,this paper analyzes the impact of the key factor,informatization,on the developmental process and possible changes which its network effects will bring about in production efficiency of logistic industry.The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:.(1)It creates and perfects the method in the mechanism and the effect research of logistics industry convergence.The convergence of logistics industry and informatization results from three major mechanisms,namely,incentive,motivation and process.Network effects of informatization affects the convergence in aspects like structural optimization and upgradation,organizational reform,and economic growth.(2)Based on the analysis of data from 1990 to 2015,the vector autoregressive model suggests that a dynamic relationship exists between logistics industry and information industry which is the key factor in the informatization process.From the cointegration relationship,the coefficient of the information industry is positive,and much higher than that of the other elements,that verify the information elements has had the profound influence on the logistics industry over passing other factors of production status such as capital and labor;impulse response and variance decomposition coefficient further validate the interaction between information industry and the logistics industry.(3)Based on the panel data from 1990 to 2012 of 31 provinces and cities in mainland China,the grey correlation model test the association degree and degree of coupling between informatization and logistics industry.The empirical result indicates that information industry and logistics industry in China are strongly related but not well coordinated.So,coupling coordination degree between them is not ideal enough.Due to multiple elements like geographical locations,resources,and governmental policies,eight major economic zones in China see spatiotemporal differences in coordination degree between the two industries.(4)The analysis that utilizes the spatial Dubin model with the informatization development index and the improved spatial weight matrix demonstrates that in the convergence process of informatization and logistics industry,network effects of IT infrastructures and spatial spillover effect work collaboratively well in pushing forward the inter-regional flow of talents and capitals,optimizing resource allocation,and lowering costs,therefore,informatization level can not only promote productivity of the local logistics industry but also prominently improve that of adjacent regions.The analysis result implies that making of policies and strategies of information and logistics in China needs to take the spatial application of the information economy into consideration.(5)Convergence of informatization and logistics industry produces the integrated economy effect and furthers the structural and the organizational evolution of the industry system.The paper,thus,builds a growth model of logistics industry system and selects 78 listed logistics companies as samples to look at the degree of ordering and coordinating in integration of informatization and logistics industry.Results reflect that convergence of logistics industry in China,which started at the beginning of the informatization age,is an outcome caused jointly by factors including environmental integration,organizational adjustment of enterprises,and managerial improvement,as well as capacity cultivated therefrom.
