With the entry of China into the new economic normality of "speed shift,structural optimization and dynamic transformation",the international economic recovery is slow and the dynamics and uncertainty of the external environment become more and more serious.Therefore,enterprises can achieve sustainable development through strategic change and actively adapting to the changes of the external environment.Transformation and upgrading is an important management practice problem in China.It is an important strategic change for enterprises to enhance their core competitiveness and achieve sustainable development.However,there is heterogeneity in the response behavior of enterprise transformation and upgrading.At present,there is still a lack of in-depth analysis of the influence factors and mechanism of the response behavior of the transformation and upgrading of the enterprises in the context of the transformation economy.The influence of different logical relations on the response behavior of enterprise transformation and upgrading has not yet been discussed.Therefore,in order to answer the question of behavior heterogeneity of enterprise transformation and upgrading in the context of transitional economy,disclose the internal mechanism of the response to the transformation and upgrading of the enterprise.The following four questions are explored in this paper:(1)What is the driving factor of the response behavior of the transformation and upgrading of the enterprise in the background of the transitional economy?(2)What is the internal function mechanism and the implementation path of the response behavior of the transformation and upgrading of the enterprise?(3)Is there still a situational factor that affects the response behavior of enterprise transformation and upgrading?(4)Is the relationship between the pluralistic institutional logic presented by the institutional complexity in the context of transitional economy contradictory or compatible? Furthermore,what is the influence of these different institutional logic relationships on the response behavior of enterprise transformation and upgrading?To answer the above four questions,on the basis of combing the relevant literature,this paper construct a conceptual model by taking institutional logic as independent variable and resource ability as intermediary variable,managerial cognition as dependent variables and the response behavior of enterprise transformation and upgrading as dependent variables,and put forward the relevant research hypotheses.Based on questionnaire data,this paper uses a hierarchical regression analysis method to examine the research hypothesis,the main results are as follows:(1)The complexity of the institution in the context of transitional economy makes enterprises face the influence of both market logic and induced policy logic,both institutional logic plays an important role in promoting the response behavior of enterprise transformation and upgrading,and the role of market logic is greater than that of induced policy logic.(2)Under the background of transitional economy,the characteristics of institutional complexity shape the technical ability and relational ability of enterprises,and then form support for the transformation and upgrading of enterprises.Among them,under the market logic,enterprises only partly through technical capabilities to achieve transformation and upgrading,and rely more on business relations and political relations to promote transformation and upgrading.Under the logic of inductive policy,enterprises only partially transform and upgrade through technical capabilities,business relations and political relations.It can be seen that under different institutional logic,although the resource capacity of enterprises can promote the transformation and upgrading of enterprises,the role of different resource capabilities on the transformation and upgrading of enterprises is different.(3)Because managers are uncertain about the risks and benefits of transformation and upgrading,the positive relationship between institutional logic and enterprise transformation and upgrading response behavior is weakened.That is,the threat explanation of managers weakens the transformation and upgrading response behavior of enterprises under the institutional complexity.Furthermore,the threat explanation of managers also weakens the positive relationship between resource ability and response behavior of enterprise transformation and upgrading.(4)Under the background of transitional economy,the induced policy logic does not interact with the market logic,there is no compatible and complementary relationship between the two logics,so there is no coordination effect on the response behavior of enterprise transformation and upgrading.The innovation and theoretical contribution of this study mainly includes:(1)Based on the complexity of the institution in the background of the transitional economy,this study clearly defines the concept of the market logic and the government logic,analyzes the influence of two kinds of institutional logic on the strategic change of enterprises,expands the applicable boundary of institutional logic theory and deepens the research of institutional logic theory on "society is an interactive institutional system".(2)Based on the background of transitional economy,this research has identified the technical ability and the relationship ability as the middle path of the enterprise to realize the strategic change.It not only opens the black box between institutional logic and enterprise strategic change,but also deepens the research on the motivation of enterprise strategic change.(3)By introducing managerial cognition,this study reveals the boundary of manager explanation on the relationship between institutional complexity and enterprise strategic change,clarifies the importance of giving full play to managers subjective initiative under institutional complexity,and enriches the research on managerial cognition.Finally,based on the conclusions of the research,this paper puts forward the relevant policy suggestions to the enterprises and the government,and points out the deficiency of the research and the prospect of the future research.
