Abstract/Summary:
Organizations often require staff with knowledge and skills necessary to align the strategies of the company with the technology that best fits they needs. According to Hunsinger and Smith (2008), the certificates have become very popular and important in the search for talent for the IT area. The purpose of this investigation was to determine if the professional within the IT industry in Puerto Rico has had an impact during the job search process, financial rewards and success in the industry, the emergence of certification in the area of technology information.;According to the views expressed by the managers, the IT professional has experienced more likely to be selected during the recruitment process and/or selection of staff and achieve success in this industry. However, managers do not perceive significant differences between the professional certification and academic degree. At the time that managers assess the professional's compensation, the certification, academic preparation or his experience in information technology does not significantly affect the attitude of the manager.
