This study on COMPUTER BASED LEARNING AS A MEANS TO INCREASE ACADEMIC AND BEHAVIORAL ENGAGEMENT OF EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS found that computer based learning was not a significant factor in the academic and behavioral engagement of Students A and B (the two students observed in this study). Furthermore, technology has the potential to motivate academic and behavioral engagement when a student is intrinsically attracted to technology. To arrive at these results, the Behavioral Assessment of School Children's Student Observation Survey was used, to collect data which was then analyzed using the Q-Global Pearson computer system. Teacher interviews and field notes data were also utilized. The researcher employed a multi-case quantitative study methodology to collect data on the participants who are two eighth grade special education students known in this study as Student A and Student B. Student A is a 13 year old male student and Student B is a 14 year old female student; these two students were observed at their rural Long Island middle school eighth grade 12:1 special education classroom.
