Research On Design Participation Strategy Of Village Homestay Tourism Under The Viewsheds Of Poverty Alleviation

Poverty alleviation is one of China's important strategic deployments.General Secretary Xi Jinping's report at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China lays out the goal of achieving that all rural residents overcome poverty by 2020,addressing regional poverty and realizing rural rejuvenation.Rural poverty-stricken areas with the prospect of developing tourism should make the best use of local resources,give full play to the advantages of rural tourism,and empower the poverty group with the help of advantages of the design science,so as to achieve the goal of poverty alleviation in multi-dimensions and coordinated development.As an important attraction of rural tourism and the place for accommodation,the village homestay is regarded as an important means of activating idle resources,reinforcing rural cultural identity,improving living standards in rural areas,and has gradually transformed into the scenery of rural tourism.Village homestays have developed for two decades by2020.Driven by culture-tourism integration and 5G applications,modern village homestays have gone through periods of the unchecked growth period,blowout period,regulated development period and depressed period due to the outbreak of COVID-19.It,therefore,urgently needs the guide of design theories.From the perspective of poverty alleviation,the participation of designing village homestays in practice has excellent service potential and a large space to develop.This thesis aims to discuss the strategies with design as the main body,village homestay tourism as the object of design and poverty alleviation in multi-dimensions such as rural spirits,economy and aesthetics as the ultimate goal.Also,this thesis researches deeply the possibility and creativity of village homestay tourism of design participation in order to realize the purpose of revitalizing idle residential houses,promoting industrial integration,and enhancing farmers' confidence and tourists' satisfaction.This thesis mainly focuses on: I.The epistemological construction of the design participant——homestays includes the diachronic research,core and extension,development conditions and problems,and interpretation and enlightenment of domestic and foreign representative cases of homestay business;II.This thesis conducts an ontological research on the theoretical basis,logical relationship,subject position,and design framework of the design subject;III.This thesis innovates methodologically in the practice of design participation through village homestay tourism,and proposes the “life tree” design model and path of “root-branch-leafflower”;IV.This thesis proposes five practical strategies as guidance for the participation of design in cultural,economic and aesthetic poverty alleviation by village homestay tourism;V.This thesis verifies and supplements the previous theories through practical design cases.The innovation of this research mainly lies in:?.This thesis turns “object creation”(homestay design)to “matter planning”(homestay tourism design)from the perspective of design and changes the design method from "designing for consumers" to "designing with rural subjects".Focusing on poverty alleviation by tourism,this research pays attention to the needs and rights of the underprivileged in rural areas.Taking village homestay tourism as the object of design participation,this thesis puts forward the design hierarchies and coupling relationship of “object-field-domain” between homestays and rural areas from the perspective of poverty alleviation by tourism.This thesis emphasizes the collaborative design and coupling development of the micro environment(homestays)and the macro environment(rural areas).?.Based on the spirit of the place,this thesis puts forward the design method of“Systematic Coupling”,which gets rid of the previous linear causal logic with a single scale and independent elements,and fulfills social,complex,and dynamic design purposes by introducing modular subsystems which iteratively progresses.According to the composing characters of the village homestay coupling system,this thesis establishes the “life tree” design model and path of “root-branch-leaf-flower” i.e.avoiding vacancies of residential houses due to severe winter based on transforming idle residential houses into homestays;emphasizing the experience of leisure agriculture and expediting integrated development of peasants' life,production and ecology;turning the rural landscape into scenes and improving peasants' living standards and aesthetics;branding service design and leading the aesthetics of homestay space from the monopoly of the elite to people's daily life.?.This thesis constructs the coupling system of village homestays and divides it into three subsystems,the homestay culture,the homestay industry,and the homestay space.Based on the hierarchy of subsystems,this thesis proposes five strategies including system coupling development,spiritual poverty alleviation by cultural construction,economic poverty alleviation by industrial integration,aesthetic poverty alleviation by space assignment,and cost control regulation.These strategies are also the main theoretical achievements of this research,aiming to provide localized,systematic and holistic design guidance for poverty alleviation through village homestay tourism.In summary,this thesis attempts to improve the endogenous motivation of poverty groups to participate in rural and community construction by designing guidance and empowerment in the construction of the coupling system of village homestays.This thesis coordinates interdisciplinary collaborations from a design perspective and provides descriptive and explanatory research results for different fields of academia.
