As mobile communication technologies, wireless Internet technology,a variety of mobile terminal technology development, the mobile application industry grows rapidly. The mobile GIS,developed in this context, gradually becomes an important growth point in GIS application domain. With rapidly increasing of amount and widespread distribution of special equipment, live inspection and on-site execution of task are required for special equipment monitoring and management. To address the above research background and business needs, considering easy development, availability and other factors of all embedded development platform,a special equipment quality inspection system based on PDA client is designed which using platform of eSuperMap.The system introduces mobile database of SQLServer CE of Microsoft company to store special equipment business data.Besides, the technology of multi-source data seamless integration of eSuperMap makes spatial data of special equipment efficiently managed together. On this basis, the structure of XML document was designed for data exchange. The attribute information downloaded for PDA client and the location data collected by GPS are all organized in such XML documents. The problem of parsing, reading and storing of XML document data brought by this method was solved in this paper. The special equipment supervision and inspection system based on PDA realized in this study has been in trial operation in Hangzhou Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision. The system meets the live work for government departments, meanwhile, provides scientific basis for special equipment management,decision-making,and so on.The design of mobile GIS,realization of data collection and other aspects can be used for reference for system establishment that demands mobile business application.
