Flavonoids compounds are widely existed in plants, which plays an important role in biological actions and applied values. Recently, people pay more and more attention to them, for example Flavonoids Puerariae, Flavonoids Ginkgo, Flavonoids Cratagi and Flavonoids Scutellariae. Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat is one of the famous "zhe eight testes". The content of flavonoids in Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat reaches to 7%, much higher than that in leaves of Ginkgo.The extraction of flavonoids usually use traditional methods, such as using hot organic solvent or water etc. In order to explore the way and method how to introduce modern new technique to study tradition herb, we use ultrasonic technique to extraction the flavonoids in Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat. The extraction rate of flavonoids optimized condition (ethanol concentration, ultrasonic time, solvent quantity and extraction times) were determined by orthogonal design. The result showed that the ultrasonic extraction method is a new technology for extracting the flavonoids in Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat, which could save time, operate simple, improve extraction rates and need not be hot.The content of active compounds in tradition herb may be changed according to the collecting location, time, flower period and processing method, etc. Europe herb preparation exhibits with "standard extract", which reduces the unstable factors. We chosen chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat in this study and use ultrasonic technique to extract and prepare the extract of flavonoids. The condition of optimizing ultrasonic extraction (ethanol concentration, ultrasonic time, solvent quantity and extraction times), according to the yield of extract and the content of flavonoids , were determined by orthogonal design. Compared with traditional extraction, ultrasonic method could save time, operate simple, stable extraction rates and need not be hot. We also find that the content of flavonoids was not same in extract prepared by alcohol under refluxing.The recent years, we increasingly attach importance to study volatile oil. Several method have been compared to extract the volatile oil in Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat. The best one is determined by volatile oil detector. The components extracted volatile oil from Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat was identified by GC-MS.The biological actions of flavonovids in Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat has been studied systematically, but a little has been done about volatile oil. As another active principle in Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat, the volatile oil has antisepsis dephlogisticate and clearing heat and detoxicating actions. We chose preliminary study of volatile oil in external antisepsis and intracorporal anti-inflammatory effects. It showed antibacterial activities against B.Coli,Staphyloccus aureus, B.aeruginosus, S' higella flexneri, B. typhi, B. paratyphosus, B.dysentercae. The minimal inhibition concentration(MIC) are between < 5 ~ 15 (mL/L) . The volatile oil also has anti-inflammatory effects on edematous swelling of mouse ear caused by xylol, but no effects on swelling and inflammation of mouse feet caused by formalin.
