Quayside container crane is the handling equipment for the container in the quay. With the increasingly fierce market competition, the development of large-scale container ships, quayside container cranes are becoming large-scale, high-speed, heavy load to meet the operational requirements of the Panamax container ship. Large quayside container crane has become the most important dedicated terminal handling machines.The basic purpose of crane structural design is through the rational allocation, to control costs and to make sure the certain function at a predetermined period of time. quayside container crane's structure design currently there are some problems. For a long time at home and abroad design of large structures remain in the static-analysis and simplify analysis stage. Generally the analysis of the strength, stiffness and stability and other aspects are based on the conventional design procedure and based on experience; to take a larger factor to ensure the reliability and safety performance of the design, therefore, design cycle is long and the accuracy is low.While the cranes in the service stage, the open welding, cracking or breakage happen occasionally, the service life of crane largely depends on the metal structure using life. It is very urgent to evaluate fatigue strength and fatigue life, and it is great significance to strengthen the research, and to popularze theories and design methods.This paper describes the fatigue theory, fatigue life, fatigue load spectrum and the cumulative damage theory; Based on Quayside 35t-28m metal structure, using common finite element analysis software ANSYS to set up finite element model and to conduct static analysis and modal analysis. Using advanced fatigue analysis software MSC. fatigue analysis of the crane structure in approximate actual working conditions to carry out the whole of life of the crane, to evaluate fatigue life of quayside container crane for fatigue stress and life assessment, distribution of the structure fatigue life presents directly to people. The results gived by MSC. fatigue allows designers to more accurate and more convenient to judge on the fatigue properties of structural design and improve design more reasonable.It helps to improve product performance, reduce the development cycles, or even reduce design costs. There is great scientific potential in theoretical guidance and practical applicatio to do the work.
