In recent years, the research on post evaluation of old industrial building adaptive reusing construction has blossomed, and the post evaluation research of project establishment, construction progress, economic and financial have been accomplished. However, those studies are too much centered on the effectiveness of old industrial buildings adaptive reusing construction, too much concerned with economic interest. Financial and economic assessment can not accurately reflect the real benefits of adaptive reusing construction. How to effectively evaluate the social impact of old industrial buildings adaptive reusing construction is an urgent problem to analyze. The study on social impact assessment of old industrial buildings adaptive reusing construction is still in its starting phase in China. There is still no unanimously approved evaluation index system and operable quantitative model. Based on reading a large number of related reference and documents, and learning from the practical experience of project post evaluation, combined with the construction of Xi'an University of Architecture &Technology Science and Evaluation Industrial Park which is recycled from old industrial buildings of Shanxi Steel Plant, the concept of social impact assessment of old industrial buildings adaptive reusing construction is refined defined, as well as the necessity and principles of social impact assessment are illustrated. On the base of the principles and basic idea of establishing evaluation index system, the index system of social impact assessment is established for old industrial buildings adaptive reusing construction. The Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method is selected as the method to evaluate the social impact of adaptive reusing construction. Furthermore, the weights of index factors based on Analytic Hierarchy Progress are optimized by the cluster matrix, which helps the accuracy and validity of evaluation results. Finally, the application of the proposal method in old industrial buildings adaptive reusing construction indicated feasibility of the evaluation index system and operability of the quantitative model of social impact assessment.
