| Urban village is a common urban phenomenon in China during the present fast urbanization process. It's the result of historic relics and modern development. In these low-rise and high-density area, there is little green open space existed. Its environmental condition and landscape is outdated, comparing with the surrounding modern society. It still follows the rural administration mode and farmers' living style. No adequate infrastructure service and no comprehensive planning have been provided. Its physical condition and the surrounding modern life show its double characteristics of rural and urban society.Urban village is a difficult problem, which need to be solved by planners and sociologists. Its out-of-order development have affected the urban sustainable development in the aspects of economy, society, environment and construction.At present, the urbanization rate in Xi'an is about 40%, on the process of speeding-up progress. Urban village reconstruction has started in a large scale. In order to prevent negative development in these areas, attention should be paid to the planning guidance at an early stage. This thesis tries to analyze this issue in Xi'an, and to develop a sound reconstruction and planning means on the basis of the lessons and experiences from other cities in China.This thesis start from the practical situation about land use, urban construction, infrastructure facilities in these areas in Xi'an, by following the guidance of Xi'an Master Plan, to define the sustainable indicators variation for per-capita construction land area, per-capita land area for living quarters, per-capita land area for collective economic development, per-capita land area for self-development and per-capita floor area for living, and to make a set of management measures for urban villages reconstruction. |
