Study On The Technological Methods Of Digital Urban Planning

Information Society and Digital City form the background for the study and practice of Digital Urban Planning. Along with the development of Digital City, Traditional Urban Planning is surely going to be developed to Digital Urban Planning. Because there is no authoritative definition of Digital Urban Planning till now, the essential concept of Digital Urban Planning was defined at the beginning in this thesis. Based on the concept of Digital Urban Planning, the technological methods system was set up, and the information contents of Digital Urban Planning were discussed. Then, most of the technological methods were addressed by means of information acquisition, information process, and information expression. Finally, the integration of some of the major technological methods was discussed, as well as the perspective of the technological methods of Digital Urban Planning. In this thesis, Digital Urban Planning is defined as the Urban Planning with Digital City being the main technological platform and database platform. The information is in digital type during the Urban Planning process. As one component of Digital City, Digital Urban Planning will be worked out for urban designing and urban managing supported by plenty of Technological Methods.The Technological Method is one of the fundamental factors of Digital Urban Planning, and Digital Urban Planning can be connected with Digital City by means of it. Plenty of technological methods are necessary for Digital Urban Planning and the Technological Methods System of Digital Urban Planning is built by considering the character of the flow of the information in Digital Urban Planning, which can make all the methods act in order. Each method is discussed in detail based on the Technological Methods System.The Technological Methods are related closely to the Information, which act as the start and end of the process of the Technological Methods being used. One of the main purposes of using Technological Methods is to produce valuable Information. The Information of Digital Urban Planning is also discussed in this thesis.Every Technological Method has its own advantages and disadvantages, and it is probable to be able to be replaced by others. In the study and practice of Digital Urban Planning, the project on the integrated application of the Technological Methods should be designed to integrate the advantages of the possible Technological Methods.
