MMS And Its Application In Data Communication Of Electric Power Supervisory And Control System

Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS) is an application layer communication protocol issued by ISO and can be applied to many industrial fields. IEC61850, which is the basis of the future seamless telecontro1 communication architecture, maps its abstract communication service interface to MMS. It is obvious that MMS is taking a more and more important role in electric power supervisory and control system communication. On the basis of understanding the architectures, information models and service models of the two standards, the mapping relations between ACSI and MMS has been researched deeply and several mapping rules have been presented.Then an architecture of communication gateway based on IEC 61850 and MMS was provided, which can be used to introduce the traditional devices into the communication networks and systems which conform to IEC 61850. Methods are provided to resolve problems about the translation between the ASN.1 abstract description and program language and the support from lower layer protocol.
