Traffic congestion in urban has increased steadily in many countries despite substantial increases in federal, state and local spending. The negative effects of this increase in congestion are widely acknowledged and include a decrease in air quality and in productivity and an increase in energy consumption. Unfortunately, adequate responses to control the growth of congestion have not been identified. However, Transportation demand management (TDM) has become a recognized policy option. Transportation Demand Management (TDM) (also known as Mobility Management) is a general term for various strategies that increase transportation system efficiency. TDM treats mobility as a means to an end, rather than an end in itself, and so helps individuals and communities meet their transport needs in the most efficient way, which often reduces total vehicle traffic. TDM prioritizes travel based on the value and costs of each trip, giving higher value trips and lower cost modes priority over lower value, higher cost travel, when doing so increases overall system efficiency. It emphasizes the movement of people and goods, rather than motor vehicles, and so gives priority to public transit, ridesharing and nonmotorized travel, particularly under congested urban conditions. Olympic Green is an area in which is important and special in Beijing. It will be built in the north of Beijing, which already has developed quickly. It will add the more energy and a high quality of project for Beijing. But the transportation system always have serious problem in this area. This area is one of district in which is the most congested in Beijing. The establishment of Olmpic Green is like to rub salt into the wound. It is important to satisfy the huge demand after games for the sustainabily of the area. This paper summarizes the history and present of TDM measures at home and abroad, and the signficance of TDM in Olympic Green after games. Based on the development characteristics of Olymic Green after games, this paper expound the...
