A Study On Xindian Town Of Chibi City In Hubei

This study roots in one of the sub-topics of "The Study on Traditional Residence in Hubei Province" and one part of "The Study on Conversation and Utilization's Mode and Method of Ancient Town in Hubei Province" founded by Wuhan University of Technology. It is also one part of "China-Japan's Cooperative Study on the Streets of Ancient Town in Hubei Province" cooperated with Japan.Xindian lies in south-west of Chibi city, separated to linxiang city of Hunan province by a river, it had been a material distributing center of circumjacent area in Ming and Qing Dynasty and famous in south of Hubei province by freighting brick-tea of Yangloudong town. It is the economic and culture aisle of Hubei and Hunan, has centuries-old history and dense regionally culture, characteristic space form and traditional architecture, and noted the development of history, economy, culture there.Through grasping the evolution of its own, the paper analyzed that the town's form and development influenced by nature, economy and culture, then combined these factors to ensure the developmental period of the ancient town and summarized its characteristic.Next, discussed the location, space shape and characteristic of regional culture of the ancient town from its space lay out, and reflected cultural background to the environment of the town.Street is bone of the town, and the character of shape and structure of the street space, function, interface, dimension and living of the street became reflection of the character of the ancient town. The streets of Xindian lies to river, became the town by streets, the shape of the streets embodied the character of outspread depending on the river, vertical and horizontal interlaced, these had relationship to the development of the ancient town.The traditional architecture is one of the study element, there are many "tiandou" architecture there, so the author analyzed the cause of formation, type and character of it, exhibited characters of the regional architecture, summarized characteristic of traditional architecture from construction, plane layout, elevation and decorative art.At last, combined research of the town and result of the question paper, bring forward the idea of the culture tour about Xindian, which has the realistic significance to the development of it.Summarized, the paper analyzed the characters of form, development, streets space and traditional architecture of the ancient town from the angle of history, architecture and urban design, which in order to dig the value of the town and put forward reasonable suggestion to the future development.
