In order toachieve scientific,reasonable and regular development of urban space, we must makeuse of the rational thought, synthetically analyze and study the influence factors of theurban land expansion, and then, we can come true the scientific choice of urban landexpansion and the right decision of urban planning.This paper analyzed and summarized the theories of urban land expansion fromthree aspects: the process of urban land expansion, the development mode of urbanspace and the influence mechanism. It also analyzed the characters of the Chineseurban land expansion. Based on these studies and regarded urban planning practice asthe paper's main body, it found a kind of analysis method and study process topreferably guide the urban land expansion practice, and serve for the urban planning.The demonstrations in this paper rooted in the urban planning practices ofCAUPD (China Academy of Urban Planning and Design). Chiefly, The mast planningof Dezhou, the mast planning of Bayannaoer, The Urban Space Strategic Planning ofShijiazhuang, etc. the paper aimed at the different cities' development characteristicsat different historic period, listed the influence factors, positive factors and negativefactors. According to the result of the interaction between these influences factors,make use of the quantitative analysis and the qualitative analysis to choice thedirection of urban land expansion. So we can educe a good planning project.
