A Probe Of The Plan Assessment Method In Urban Public Space

In the course of China's urban public space construction, the selection of the planning scheme is often based on its drawing while ignoring many other factors such as economical, social and technological ones, thus it causes many problems. Against this background, this thesis makes a preliminary exploration to the planning assessment method for the urban public space.The thesis first reviews the general planning assessment methods and some domestic and foreign cases of planning assessment. It then discusses the planning assessment practice and its characters in China, as well as the assessment elements, such as the assessment carrier, content and principle that are very important in the planning assessment process.The core of the thesis is to establish a framework of planning assessment for urban public space. This framework includes two-level processes. In the first process, it deals with the balance of the economical, social and environmental factors that decide the better plan. In the second process, it aims in evaluating the implementation of the urban public space plan.Finally, the methods established in this study are applied to assess a planning project of the waterfront area in Liuan City, Anhui Province.Accounting to the logic course of problem detecting, problem analyzing and problem solution, the study of this thesis is aimed to find a better planning assessment method for the better development of urban public space.
