The construction diversion for a large-scale hydroelectric engineering is a rather complex systems engineering, making schedule for it is a complex task which includes many various subsystems. The parts of respective subsystem not only relate with each other, but also restrict with each other and the relation of them is greatly intricate. Construction of every component is dynamically changing, thus it's difficult to grasp large amount of dynamic information. The design and decision-making is a quite difficult work, most of time we need to find the best one for many of them. Just for all these reasons, to describe a construction plan with words and drawings on the papers makes the people difficult to grasp the information in the plan. With a visual system that can show all the schedules in the construction plan, not only can we show the outline of the constructions, but also can describe the subsystems and their relations clearly by graphics. Moreover we can realize the visual information descriptions based on the 3D model. By this means, not only the design modeling process is simplified, but also the complex construction process is visualized. Moreover, it is possible to make analysis and comparison for the different schemes conveniently. And then a scientific and reasonable decision support can be produced to make the feasible construction planning and the real-time schedule control and management. Therefore, the efficiency and quality of the design could be largely promoted. With the technique of GIS (geographic information system) and visualization, the methodology of 3D-visualization based on GIS is proposed, engineering visual computer-aided design and its application are deeply studied and fulfilled, also the GIS-based three-dimension dynamic visual simulation technique of the engineering constructions. The dynamic animation data is organized on the platform of GIS, the 3D dynamic animation system structure is designed, and also the sub-system functions are realized. The successful development of the system provides a useful analysis tool for the management and decision-making of construction of hydropower station. The method provides a powerful tool for schedule-planning and management of project construction.
