Recent years, the price of crude oil have been constantly going up.Most of the oil-importing countries feel the pressure on the development of economy from the rising of the oil price. In order to deal with the negative influence on the economy, they all do researches and bring forward certain policies to cut down the consumption of oil. Since we are one of the big developing countries, the high oil price will place an even worse effect on us. Not only will it increase the cost of the economy developing,it will increase the burden of foreign exchange as well. The cost of the automobile fuel consumption accounts for 30 percents of the total transportation cost. Therefore, Proper matching of powertrain parameters of the automobile become one of the important fuel saving methods. The power performance and the fuel economy are both the important indexes of the automobile. To designing a certain vehicle , when the total weight, distrubutation of the load and the tyres are specified ,in trandational ways,it needs to do a lot of the dynamic calculation work and numorous experiments to get the parameters of proper engine and powertrain. Because of many constraints, we cannot get the ideal result. If we simulate the operating conditions of the vehicle by using computer to optimize the parameters of engine, transmission and driving axle(such as the engine trait, the transmission ratios, the driving axle ratio),we can get the much better result.According to the above,we programed a project by using the softwares of Visal C++ and Matlab to realize the initial optimization of the powertrain parameters. As an example,we designed the powertrain of a light-duty bus through this system.By comparing the results of the power performance and the fuel economy ,the reliability and practicality of this system was proved.
