With the rapid development of the harbor service, the development direction of port cranes is large scale, high speed, automation and intellectualization. The performance requirement of the port machinery is becoming higher and higher, not only need lighting the weight, good rigidity, great working space, but also requests high running speed of the trolley and the cart, great efficiency and so on. But for a long time, the design method of loading and unloading port machine mostly adopts the static design and has no valid method of dynamic emulation, and according to the similar products' information to accomplish design and calculation. Compared to the design technical of spaceflight, aircraft, motor and other high-tech machinery,the design of port machine hasn't adopted effective dynamic analysis method. If the technique of virtual prototype is introduced in study of port machinery, it can realize emulation that the running state of each mechanism under various working conditions which varies according to load and the process which varies according to time. Results from the emulation are used to estimate and judge different data of actual movement. It also has some reference value for the dynamic analysis and calculation of port machinery. What have mentioned above provides the foundation for simulation design study of crane, provides technique support for the creative design and optimization of crane, and plays an important part in expediting the development cycle and reducing the cost.This article taking the 800t/h grab unloading crane as a prototype, using three-dimensional solid modeling software of UG to establish the model of the unloading crane, Carries on the dynamics simulation analysis with finite element analysis software ANSYS and virtual prototype dynamics analyze software platform ADAMS, and than realize the simulation of grab unloading crane in the situation of hoisting mechanism, running gear and luffer working conditions with the change of the load, interrelated data which is get in the simulation analysis offers effective methods on dynamic design of integrated system of grab unloading crane.In a word, virtual prototype study of grab unloading crane is a trial that apply advanced design, analysis and simulation techniques in design of port crane and offers efficient tool and method to design port crane that is economic, credible, stable and high performance.
