The 21st Century is a century of sustainable development relying on knowledge innovation and application. With the increase of knowledge and information explosion, significant changes are taking place in people's behavior and thinking pattern. Architecture is an integrated subject with a long history, however, the specialization of knowledge leads to a narrower developing trend for architecture. In abstracto, the development of architecture in the new century is in a broad sense, which tends to be more extensive and cross-subject, conforming to sustainable ecological principles. Regarding to the demands for national construction, analyzing type talents are facing more difficulties while comprehensive talents are doing their job with skill and ease. Thus, there is an urgent need for a new knowledge system, enhancing subject intersection, interdiscipline infiltration and integration.Architecture is a subject which studies building structure and its environment, including architectural technology and art. The combination of technology and art is the essence of architecture. However, influenced by academism, there have been defects in architectural education in China. Design courses are divorced from technology courses in architectural education. This is against the essence and characteristics of architecture, and hinders the development of architecture. Rapid progress in science and technology, research and development of new materials, the application of new construction technology, as well as wide use of computer and development of the Internet, all lead to a rapid development of architecture, which demands a reformation in architectural education to meets the needs of society and narrow the gap in designing between China and other countries.Compared with other subjects, there is certain particularity in architectural teaching mode, which is determined by the particularity of architecture design itself. There are three functional parts in specialized architectural courses—architecture design, architecture technology, history and theory. Architecture design is a complicated and creative thinking process, requiring both a solid foundation of professional study and a wide range of knowledge in various subjects. Therefore, how to improve on design course to adapt to the registered architect system and bring out more talents for our society has been a mission of great importance.Aimed at the problem of disjointedness of architectural design course and technology courses in China, this paper puts forward three ways of integration based on an analysis of historical reason and a summary of curriculum integration situation both home and abroad, and then probe into the three ways to demonstrate their possible problems in practice as well as advantages and disadvantages, and the solutions.
