Since the high-rise building has many characteristics, such as multiple stories, great height, high demand for water supply and so on, the standard of design, construction and management for the water supply engineering is accordingly higher. With the increasing height, the energy consumption is gradually growing, so the demand for energy saving becomes rather urgent. Aimed at exploring the problems of energy consumption existing in the water supply system, the domestic water supply system for high-rise buildings, the energy saving and optimization are studied in this paper. In order to study the energy saving and optimization of water supply for high-rise buildings, based on previous research achievements, the paper systematically studies five parts as follows: rational use of the municipal hydraulic pressure, rational district of water supply system, optimizing selection of the supply mode, optimizing selection of the supply mode for high-rise residential quarters and the energy saving of VVVF constant pressure water supply system. It's the first step to utilize the municipal hydraulic pressure in the design of domestic water supply system. Besides using the municipal hydraulic pressure to directly supply water to low districts, this paper advances that it is of necessity to apply the energy-saving equipment, i.e., the non-negative pressure supply, to water supply for high districts. Therefore, the non-negative pressure water supply system is recommended in the paper, and its operating principles, energy consumptions, designing methods and application conditions are described in details. In addition, the energy saving effect and feasibility of the equipment are testified by real engineering instances. The supply district is the key step for the design of water supply systems. A theoretical analysis is carried out to explore the composing of water supply system in high-rise buildings, proving the energy saving effect on the supply district. Then the energy consumptions of diverse district supply modes are compared, and the lowest energy consumption is attained. As to the supply mode, the paper puts forward the means to determine the optimum district, i.e., grounded on satisfying the demand for water supply and taking into account the energy consumptions and investment situations in different districts, the mathematics model is built, and the optimum district is determined by virtue of solution models to estimate the annual cost. This paper also gives a detailed introduction to the process of model building, and the model is further analyzed and proved by real engineering instances. This method takes into full consideration the energy saving effect and economic feasibility of districts, guaranteeing the reasonability of supply districts. There are many schemes of water supply, but it's a great difficulty to choose a suitable supply mode for different buildings. Thus the paper suggests the Three Mark Analytic Hierarchy Process should be used to perform optimizing selections. In this paper, this method is used to analyze eight water supply schemes for high-rise residential buildings from five aspects, such as energy consumptions, investment situations, the floor area, supply reliability and management convenience. Then the marks for eight water supply schemes by professors are collected and processed with the Matlab mathematics software, and the better supply scheme fit for high-rise residential building is achieved. The results prove that such method can provide reference to the selection of supply programs. Moreover, the optimization research is conducted to explore the selection of supply modes for high-rise residential quarters. The characteristics of domestic water supply, the investment and energy consumption situations with different water supply schemes for the high-rise residential quarters are also analyzed in this paper. Especially, the investment and energy consumption of domestic water supply system for the roof water tank and VVVF (variable velocity variable frequency) pump are analyzed by real engineering instances, which obtains the relatively better water supply scheme suitable for high-rise residential quarters.Lastly, the paper studies the energy saving of the widely-used VVVF constant pressure water supply system, of which the operating principle, energy saving theory, and the method to calculate energy saving rate are introduced. To make full use of the energy saving function of VVVF pump, the paper mainly analyzes the optimizing selections and the method to match the pump types, combined with demonstrating the feasibility by real engineering instances.
