The research on high-quality power network monitoring system becomes necessary to adapt to the society development and market requirement. In the power network monitoring system, the diagram tool is used widely.However, the design architecture of most system diagram tools is old and the operation is complicated, which are not convenient for the enhancement maintenance of users. The development of the Object-oriented and configuration technology brings opportunity for the great development of the diagram tool and greatly improves its adaptability and enhancement maintenance capabilities.Based on the systematical research on all kinds of realization methods of the diagram tool, this paper puts forward the equipment-oriented virtual prototyping modeling methods with detailed discussion of all kinds of virtual prototyping design technologies in the system. With the application of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) methods, the configurable sub-system of the power network monitoring system diagram tool is realized for the power supply system. Unified Modeling Language (UML) is used in the system design and analysis procedure, which is valuable for the similar software designs.At the end of this paper, the research and development trends of the configuration diagram tool are discussed to provide a basis for the further development.
