Reaseach And Application Of IEC61850

Substation Automation (SA) is a rapidly increasing area of interest in Electrical Egineering these days embracing numerous benefits to utilityies. In substation Industry it has the capabilities of efficiently managing operations, maintenance and capital assets. Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDS) are the most important elements of a SA system. All the IEDs, which connected through an effective comm.unication system in a substation, can have the ability to remotely control, manipulate and monitor. Due to there is no international commumication standards between a great variety of IED coporations, it is difficult to achieve a fully integerted and interoperable SA system. In order to solve the above questions, the IEC61850 Communication networks and System in substations is designed by IEC TC57. The aim of IEC61850 is to accomplish real interoperability of SAS, so as to reduce maintenance and so on.The IEC61850 is the newest international standard on substation automation. It is the newest develope way of substation automation system. The worldwide electrical corporations are paying attentions to IEC61850. It's features are: it designs an abstract model and describes how devices are to communicate in a substation. Consequently the IEC61850 standard can only be operational when maped to a specific concrete application layer procotol such as the Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS).The background, the function and the organization of IEC61850 are introduced in this paper firstly. Further the process of the establishment and the characteristics of IEC61850 are given. According to the understanding of interchangeability and interoperability , this paper analyzes the key technology of the standard. On the base od this, the general IED configurer and wave recorder based on IEC61850 are designend and implemented. Finally, the data flow of the conformance testing and it's files are researched in this paper.
