On the basis of a large number of the literature, the article summarized the applications of block all over the world and the situation of building blocks, the problems of research on concrete block masonry,and especially analysis advantages of the special-shape concrete block wall.In order to constructing energy efficient building and meeting the demand of improving the aseismic performance of masonry, the concave concrete block was designed , and the steel mold was producted, and then, the special-shape concrete blocks were processed and manufactured in XinXiang Building Materials Ltd, Daqing.Test methods was used, according to the existing "small concrete hollow block test method" GB/T4111-1997, "Masonry basic mechanical properties of standard test methods" GBJ129-90, "Building Mortar basic performance test methods," such as standardized JGJ70-90 , there is the experimental and theoretical analysis basic mechanical properties of the special-shaped concrete block masonry, and special-shape concrete block masonry seismic performance testing program was designed.The special-shaped block and ordinary concrete block compression test and shear test were conducted. The forms that special-shaped block wall had compression and shear damage shape, cracking load and ultimate load bearing capacity is analyzed and in contrast to ordinary concrete block. The results show that compression capacity of special-shaped block wall is lower than ordinary block wall, and shear strength was higher than that of ordinary concrete block wall. The concave block the existence of occlusion chain, so shear force is provided by ash from the gap and the chain, and the specimen cracking load and ultimate load are higher than ordinary masonry.Comparative with the results of the ordinary masonry block shear force, the analysis shows special-shape concrete block's shear force was significantly higher than that of ordinary block masonry's. The shear strength is an important factor of the reaction of the seismic performance of masonry block, therefore, seismic performance of the special-shape concrete block masonry will be better than ordinary concrete block.
