Whether updating in time of it not only confine the port transportation capability, but also affect the work safely in port. Therefore the determination of logical age for the quayside container crane in use has practical significance to port developing.One of the important projects in port machinery management is the determination of logical age for the quayside container crane which is confirmed through scientific method. As a big handing machinery, the quayside container crane has many characteristics such as big capital investment, quick technology update, long operating time, high operational safety and so on, which make it has great difference on other handing machineries in framework and operating. Therefore, it is not exactness for us to determine the logical age for the quayside container crane only by using economic life. We have to attach great importance to the using age of the quayside container crane for the quick update and serious accidents of containers.The thesis will use theories about economic life, technology life and natural life of big handing machineries in port to analyze the influence on the logical age for the quayside container crane which was made by some factors such as depreciation and maintenance cost. Meanwhile it make the time series of technology depreciation and maintenance cost through data collecting and market researching. Then it constructs the model which is more exactness to the determination of logical age for the quayside container crane in use. In the end, the thesis takes the quayside container crane in DCT as example to test. The result shows that the model has practical significance to the determination of logical age for the quayside container crane in use.
