The South-to-North Water Transfer Project(SNWTP) is a strategic water infrastructure that aims to solve the shortage of water resources in the north of China, to optimize water resources distributed and to improve the ecological environment. The channel of SNWTP with concrete canal lining is used widely in order to ensure safety and reduce leakage.The SNWTP is a huge project,and many river basins run across.Therefore,frost heaving is a common problem in concrete canal lining in winter,especially for cold wheather in the north of China,and it affected badly positive benefit of the channel.Consequently,it is of great important how to solve frost heaving of concrete canal lining.Heat-insulating is a effective measure in solving frost heaving.In this paper,a kind of quality insulating material was made,and its performances were studied.It mainly studied systematically the effect of each component such as glazed hollow bead,fly ash,polypropylene fiber,re-dispersible emulsion powers,hydroxypropyl methylcellulose,ligno-cellulose when the mix amount changed.The results showed that:With the amount of glazed hollow bead increasing,dry bulk density and compression strength decreased,thermal conductivity decreased,too.The suitable amount of fly ash can improve the workability of mortar and decrease dry bulk density;the polypropylene fiber can improve the crack resistance.The re-dispersible emulsion powers increased the tensile bond.Appropriate amount of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose fresh mortar can improve the performance of construction.The ligno-cellulose can improve the organizational structure of mortar,and made the mortar flexibility.It mainly studied cement-sand ratio,re-dispersible emulsion powers, polypropylene fiber and water repellent admixture on mortar performance influence. The results showed that:When cement-sand ratio was 1:3,the workability and toughness of mortar was better.The re-dispersible emulsion powers may improve the mortar toughness,and enhanced bond strength of mortar.The polypropylene fiber influenced passively the mortar workability,but it can remarkably improve the mortar toughness and crack resistance.The water repellent admixture can remarkably decrease water absorption,and kept water absorption less than 6%for a long-term. The asphalt emulsion was admixed to improve insulating mortar some performances.The effect of asphalt emulsion on the performance of glazed hollow bead insulation mortar was investigated.The experiment results showed that the dry bulk density and water absorption were decreased due to addition of asphalt emulsion. The compression strength and flexure strength were increased first,then decreased with increase of asphalt emulsion content.Furthermore,the thermal conductivity of the insulation mortar was improved slightly by adding of the emulsion asphalt.
