The logistics machinery enterprise should adapt rapidly user needs, adopt new technology, and speed up product upgrading for survival and development in the fierce market competition. It is very important to implement PDM system, which can integrate design experience, data information and advanced development technology.Firstly access to technical literature and field research about enterprise, aiming at the status that all-electric forklift truck in the logistics machinery enterprise which has complex product structure, a wide range of parts and components, as well as various assembly relationship, ordinary modeling method can not describe the complex product constraint relationship of system, it lacks of flexibility of product configuration, it's not useful to the product structure formal description of all-electric forklift trucks and the extensible configuration of product additional function. In order to bring up the product functional tree which includes constraint information, construct product formal structure model based on polychromatic sets theory, the polychromatic sets theory has been introduced. The polychromatic sets theory has been used in all-electric forklift trucks PDM system successfully via the components configuration model.Secondly, set up the function modules of system, the all-electric forklift trucks PDM system based on polychromatic sets theory was achieved by designing the product index module, database structure and dialog box of system attributes.Last but not least, the product database management system through SmarTeam environment based on polychromatic sets theory was accomplished. The project management, document management, product structure management, product lifecycle management have been achieved. The functions of SmarTeam have been extended via secondary development.The products which meet the customers' requirements could be configured quickly and correctly by using the product database management system based on polychromatic sets theory. Through the reuse of structure and technique of components which look similar, the research development cycle of all-electric forklift trucks has been decreased, the cost has been reduced,the requirements of cost and respond velocity have been achieved successfully.It is bring forth new ideas that this paper focused on application and research of productdata modeling and system design of functions module with the Polychromatic Sets Theory. It can further improve passive research and design of product in the logistics machinery enterprise and enhance the capacity of independent innovation. It contributes to increase information level of logistics machinery industry as well as the whole manufacturing industry rapidly.
