With the recovery of the global economy, the number of international shipping trade and vessels in harbor increases in a large scale, which has brought some pressure on the port facilities, therefore, the rational utilization of port facilities plays a significant role in solving the port pressure and promoting the development of ports and the region. As the safe waters of vessel anchoring, the rational use of the anchorage has a vital role in the safety of vessels and the development of ports.Regarding the rational use of the anchorage, it can not avoid calculating the waters occupations of the single vessel and the distances between vessels. But due to the maneuverability of vessels, the actual waters occupations of vessels have some difference with code requirement and theoretical computation. Considering this, therefore, this thesis counts and analyzes the AIS data, and gets the relationship among the waters radius of anchored vessels, the distances of anchored vessels, and vessels length, at last gets a equation, which can predict the waters occupations of anchored vessels in actual situation conveniently. With the help of the development of science and technology and the equipment of the AIS installations, the research method of this thesis can easily achieved. By virtue of MATLAB and VC++6.0, AIS data can display clearly. It can truly reflect that situation of anchoring of the vessels. Inputting the AIS data arranged chronologically into the computer program, it can fit the radius ofa circle of waters of the single vessel at anchor, and then calculate the actual waters radius of vessel anchoring. In the meanwhile, it displays the position of the vessels in order to calculate the distances among them.Analyzing the data, it can get the relationship between waters radius of single vessel and the vessel length, and then, the equation by analyzing the relationship. In addition, it can also get another equation by analyzing the distance of two anchored vessels. Finally, it tests these equations, confirming their rationality. The statistical parameters of waters radius of anchored vessels in actual situation and the distances of vessels are useful to the comparison with code requirement and theoretical value. Through the comparison, it can find the difference and get a conclusion. And, the utility of regression equation is useful to the predication of waters occupations in the actual anchorage. All of these can provide the theory basis and technical support for the use and management of port anchorage and vessel navigation safety.
