Accompanying the development of modern industry, a long history appeared in the study of weighing technology which was progressively developed from one kind of simple measuring instrument into the installation with the capability to control and adjust industrial production process. The online weighing system was earlier applied abroad in some fields such as food, pharmaceutical, chemical, machinery industry and farming, side-line production, which greatly improved the productivity and product quality. The global pharmaceutical industry paid increasingly attention to the development of online weighing technology which mainly is dependent on import currently in our country.Based on the reference of aboard online weighing system and the domestic background of liquid filling machines, one kind of filling machine with online weighing system is independently designed and manufactured in this research. This machine exhibits the high performance and cost-effectiveness so that it can substitute the imported products and meet the demands in business such as pharmaceutical, healthcare, wine industries.Present research mainly consists of following sections:Firstly, the significance and the background of the research are simply introduced including the present status of online weighing technology. Based on the feature of this technology, the research situation and development trend are analysed. Moreover, the application condition of online weighing technology is introduced in brief at the same time.Secondly, the basic principle of online weighing of the filling machine is introduced simply. Considering the real demand in business, the main frame of online weighing technology is suggested including the fundamental structure of quality detection device and adjusting controller of online weighing system. Furthermore,the research mainly focuses on the operational principle of the system and general concept of online weighing control.Next, the hardware of the system is deigned in this research mainly including the process requirements of online weighing technology, equipments state, I/O nodes and types of statistical system. And then, hardware configuration of the system, PLC type and other main devices are selected and laid out. I/O nodes are defined. Based on the analysis of control process, system programming is carried out. Relevant software is programmed in order to achieve the accordance with the controlling flow of online weighing system.At last, after finishing the design of hardware and software of the system, the control theory is discussed for the online weighing operating system, and the control methods of the system are consequently introduced. Mathematics modal is built and transfer functions are discussed according to the control system. The simulation results exhibit the close agreement with relevant experimental data, which proves that this system has the control function of online weighing with good stability and achieves the prospective objective of the design.The online weighing system in this research meets the projected design demand and is possible to be applied in business.
