ABSTRACT:Electronic control equipments are widely used in diesel engines to reduce fuel consumption and emission and to improve locomotive performances. The traditional development of ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is based on experiments which cost much, spend long time and are affected by the instability of the debugging environment. A hardware-in-the-loop simulation system is designed for the development of the ECU. And it provides a platform for testing control strategy and control function of the ECU.The system is a closed loop including a personal computer, a data acquisition board and the ECU. The personal computer not only calculates the diesel engine model in real time but also controls the process of the whole simulation. The transient diesel engine model is constructed in Matlab/Simulink and the monitor software is compiled by using LabVIEW.The mean value model of diesel engine (including turbocharger model, turbine model, diesel engine model and cooler model) is built on the basis of technology parameters and test data of the diesel engine. The simulation model translated in C code meets the real-time demand.Comparing with the data of actual diesel running conditions the simulation results met the demand of real-time and accuracy. The last part of the dissertation is the performance tests about the hardware-in-the-loop simulation system. The result proved the hardware-in-the-loop simulation system's feasibility and suitability.
