Nowadays, our country's usage amount of dangerous chemicals rises significantly, whereas the manufacturing location and usage area are not the same. The examples of accidents which have happened during transportation are too numerous to mention either by road or by railway through car, train or ship. With regard to road transportation, road transport bears no comparison with railway transport in terms of volume and safety. Thus how to ensure the safety of hazardous goods during railway transport is an important issue facing us.This paper attempts to take LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) railway transport for instance and analyze the safety assessment method which is suitable for LPG railway transport. Finally according to the theory,.risk evaluation system of railway transportation about hazardous goods have compiled partially.At first,Physical and chemical properties and explosion characteristics of the LPG is analyzed to determine their own risk. Analyzing LPG rail transportation process and transportation equipment risk, fault tree is used to identify the risk factors and sequencing according to their important degree of structure.The LPG rail transport accidents are attributed to the consequences of jet fire, fireball, and deflagration, burst fire and vapor cloud explosion four kinds of types and the consequences of various accident evaluation model are determined. risk assessment model of railway transport of liquefied petroleum gas is confirmed, combined with consequences of various accident evaluation model and it is tested by LPG railway transportation instance.Based on risk assessment model of railway transport of liquefied petroleum gas, It is developed that risk assessment system of railway transport of liquefied petroleum gas by using Visual Basic,Access,Excel,and Matlab. At last, adopting the data of the example analysis, It is validated that software Validity of six kinds of functions of the accident Consequences of pool fire, jet fire, fireball, and deflagration, burst fire simulations, individual risk evaluation and social risk assessment of the consequences. It is realized that the combination of theoretical study and practical application.
