It's well known that electric power industry is an important basic industry in the national economy, and it is also the important and advanced industry in the development strategy of national economy. Currently, the electric power industry in China grows rapidly, especially for the thermal power plant, since 70% of the power plants in nationwide are thermal power plants. With the transition of the national energy policy and reform of electric system, the national electric structure is being adjusted and optimized constantly, but for now and a long term in the future, the thermal generator set will still be the main form of the modern electric industry. As the field technical equipment level raise constantly, which makes Chinese power industry enter an era of big generator, large power plant, big electric wire netting, ultrahigh voltage, automation and information, the automation of production process plays an increasingly important role in the field.This paper is based on the construction of 2x600MW supercritical thermal power generator auxiliary control network project by Henan Pingdingshan Yaomeng Power Generating Co., Ltd. Firstly, the paper introduces the necessity, main content, developing stage and basic knowledge of the production process automation for thermal power plant, and discusses the design of the plant auxiliary control system, and the design of the MCGS software-based computer monitoring system, as well as designs a control scheme per the control system requirement, according to the water treatment technological process of power plant.
