It is apparently necessary to give play to the superiority of innovation and industrialization of hybrid cotton in China and to enlarge the market share.After reviewing relative documents, making spot investigation, in combination with case studies, adopting comparative analysis and systematic analysis with descriptive qualitative analysis as the main, supplemented by some graphic analysis and quantitative analysis, the author researches the status of hybrid cotton industrialization and existing questions in China, analyses the operating system and mechanism of all modes of industrialization, and draws conclusions as the following:1.Status of Industrialization The heterosis of hybrid cotton varieties increases. Theconventional esmasculation and pollination are still the method of seed preparation. Break-through in the research on the technique of seed preparation is quite necessary.There are many cotton production bases, but large size specialized ones are few. The seed quality should be further improved. There are many cotton seed enterprises, but their size is small. The concerned law and regulations need further improvement. The mode of cooperation between scientific research, variety breeding, seed increase and variety extension is various, but usually the mode of cooperation is loose, and the mode linked to right of property is rarely seen. Generally speaking, the extent of industrialization is not high.2.The mode of industrialization Nowadays there are five modes of industrialization of hybrid cotton in China: independent development, special seed increase, joint production and marketing, exclusive development and joint operation. The modes usually adopted are independent development, special seed increase and joint operation. The main participants of independent development include scientific research unit, the seed-preparing farmer and the variety breeding expert. The scientific research unit does not have predominance in production, and as a member of the body it cannot form a profit-enjoying community. The scale of production is also limited. In the mode of special seed increase, the participants are the scientific research unit, production unit and the seed-preparing fanner. As members of the body, the participants can give play to their superiority, and they in a certain extent can form a profit-enjoying community. The operation of business is bound by contract. But this mode ofcooperation is still loose. In the mode of joint operation, the main participants include the scientific research unit, production unit and the companies of joint operation. In this mode linked up by right of property all the links of variety breeding, cotton production, marketing and service merge into a perfect chain. They complete each other in advantages, equally responsible for all risks, enjoy same profits and are mutually restricted. This mode of cooperation is close. Each mode has its advantages and disadvantages and adoptive conditions. The development law of the mode of industrialization of hybrid cotton in China is passing from independent development to special seed increase, and finally developing into that of joint operation.Furthermore, a series of policies and recommendations for promoting the development of hybrid cotton industrialization in China are suggested in this paper.
