The Research About Mass Survey, Prevention And Cure Of The Milch Cow Tuberculosis In Dazhou City

Tuberculosis is a kind of chronic infectious zoonosis caused by tuberclebacillus. It's harmful to both human being and livestock. It has been more than 20 years since the last mass survey of milch cow tuberculosis in Dazhou city. During the past 3 years (2001-2003), the milch cow tuberculosis has been controlled, by applying the following measures: epidemiological survey, specific diagnosis with PPD, serological test, treating the positive cows, synthesized measures of prevention and cure. The positive rate of the milch cow in 2003 has declined by 8.48%, comparing with that in 2001. And nearly 7,000,000 yuan has been saved for the dairy farmers in the past 3 years.The characteristic of occurrence and prevalence of the milch cow tuberculosis in Dazhou city. (1) Tubercle bacillus' resistance against the environment is strong. (2) The milch cow tuberculosis has no seasonal characteristic.distributes in rural, while prevails in dairy farms. (3) Holstein milch cow is the most susceptible, while local cattle and buffalo are not susceptible. (4) The infection pathways contain direct contact infection, indirect infection and vertical infection. The main reasons that lead the milch cow tuberculosis to prevail again and again are listed as follows: no stringent quarantine, import thoroughbreds blindly, unable to deal with the positive milch cow in time, unable to eradicate the source of infection radically. (5) The tendency of the prevailing of milch cow tuberculosis in Dazhou city is obvious for the following reasons: the developing dairy industry, the emergence of bigger dairy farms, the frequenter milch cow trade, the rekindleding of the milch cow tuberculosis both in the world and China.From the test of allergic reaction by intradermal injection with PPD, the survey methods are concluded as follows: the interpretable rate with PPD is higher, the specificity is better, the operation is more convenient, comparing with that of OT. Every spring and autumn, all the milch cows must be quarantined once.The procedure of serological test of the positive milch cow: first collect 30 samples, then cultivate with Patragnani medium and pigmentize with Q.N. acid-fast stain, then observe with microscope. The coincidence between the microscopic examination results and the allergic reaction results is 40%, while that between the bacterium cultivation results and the allergic reaction results is 26.7%.The treatment result of positive milch cow: five cows don't fully recover after treating with both Chinese traditional medicine and western medicine. It's valueless to treat the positive milch cow. They should be eliminated through selection immediately (except thoroughbreds with especial value).In order to purge the milch cow tuberculosis, a series of programs have been formulated: During the past 3 years, 1805 milch cows have been quarantined, 114 positive milch cows have been all eliminated through selection. The positive milch cow tuberculosis rate has reduce to 2.97% in 2003 from 11.45% in 2001, which results from the synthesized measures: quarantine, isolation, disinfections, growing health cow flocks. So the health of both human being and livestock are guaranteed and the dairy industry is prosperous.
