Objective To explore the role of NKB in the pathogenesis of hypertensive disorders complicating pregnancy and its possible mechanism. Methods Plasma NKB level in 10 healthy nonpregnant women, 10 normal and 29 patients with hypertensive disorders complicating pregnancy was measured by enzyme linked immunoassay(ELISA). And the hypertensive disorders complicating pregnancy group was subdivided into gestational hypertension, mild preeclampsia, severe preeclampsia, and eclampsia groups. And the NKB concentration was also measured in all pregnant groups at the third day after delivery. Also, the expression of NKB and NK1 receptor in placenta from them was detected by the immunohischemistory. Results (1) The plasma NKB levels in patients with hypertensive disorders complicating pregnancy [(59.20 ± 25.21) pg/ml] were significantly higher than those of normal pregnancies and normal nonpregnant women [(27.68±6.19)pg/ml , (4.69±2.39)pg/ml , P <0.01 , respectively], and it in normal pregnant group was increased significantly than those of normal nonpregnant group(P < 0.01). There was significant difference in plasma NKB levels among the patients with gestational hypertension, mild preeclampsia, severe preeclampsia, and...
