Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott, a deciduous perennial herb in Dryopterideceae of Dryopteris Adanson, grows in sloping land with steatite where altitude is 1000-1700m and with stones of forest, or in the cracks of magma near the volcano. The Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott were often present in sub-community, which produce a lot of spores to make sexual reproduction and bed-out insemination. The resource of the plant which distributes in Northeast and Hua bei of China, Russia, Japan, Korea and North America. It has the long history to be used as folk medicine .Due to its strong and wide biological activities, the Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott utilized widely to cure many diseases and has obviously curative effects, especially for psoriasis and arthritis. As a traditional Chinese medicine, the Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott was studied on treatment of psoriasis and on anti-fungi these days. However, the system study on active constituents related to the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis wasn't reported in home and abroad. In order to illustrate the effective substance for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, we have studies on chemical constituents in active fraction for rheumatoid arthritis in Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott's.Pharmacological experiment confirmed 30% ethanol elution of Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott is major active fraction for the rheumatoid arthritis treatment. We have studies on chemical constituents in effective parts of treating rheumatoid arthritis, 8 chemicals were isolated with silica. Gel column, ODS column, HPLC preparation chromatography. of which the structure of 5 compound were fully determined by 1D and 2D NMR such as 1H-NMR,13C-NMR,1H-1H COSY,HSQC and HMBC, etc. combined with ESI-MS and chemical methods. The compounds are 2 lignans, 2 sesquiterpenoids,1 phenylpropanoids, which contain 2 new compounds and 2 compounds were separated from the Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott for the first time. Two new compounds were named as fragranoside H, fragranoside I.The systematical research for the chemical constituent of the Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott's in order to discover the bioactive components of Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott's for the treatment of Rheumatoid arthritis .As a traditional Chinese medicine, All these research will provide important scientific foundation and material base for further research .For expanding, reasonably exploiting and utilizing the resource of the Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott's, the article provides significant scientific evidence.
